So Growing Room was closed today for a teacher planning day. I took the day off to spend with Emmie at home. We had ourselves a great Mommy & Emmie Day! And even though we were only going to a drive-thru breakfast, and a drive-thru reverse teacher parade at school, my girl got dressed up nice and fancy! She loves these maxi dresses!
All of the teachers at school were lined up outside shouting and waving balloons and even though Emmie got all shy and tried to hide her face, I thought it was fun and had a great time!
We had picked up some donuts before the parade, so we pulled over in the parking lot afterwards to eat them together, which of course Little was super excited for!
We made an impromptu stop into Trader Joe’s after our donuts. I hadn’t been in forever, and I really enjoyed just slowly browsing the aisles (twice through the store actually) looking for random treasures (like chai tea concentrate and mahi burgers). It wasn’t very crowded either, so it was a nice little grocery trip.
Emerson requested to choose a special snack, and she felt very attached to these chips she picked out.
We had lots of fun at home, and did all sorts of playing and activities.
She provided unlimited free coffee refills in her kitchen, which was very much appreciated… Until she stole my coffee and started stealing sips herself!
She requested an outfit change, so she could be more free to move around without the long dress, and these tiny shorts were so super cute.
After reading a bunch of books, she had cheese noodles for lunch while we watched some of “Finding Nemo.” She went down for her nap, still wearing her panties, and she slept for 1.5 hours and still woke up dry. She still wouldn’t even go on the potty after waking up. So we just kept on playing…
She was pretending that this bear was baby Ellie Grace, and she was rocking her, and singing to her, and trying to get her to go potty, and it was precious, because she kept saying “Baby Ellie” over & over again.
We tried very hard to go pee on the potty today. We even went so far as to bring a potty into her bedroom, and she did some stickers and coloring while sitting down. But she still didn’t go…
I reorganized all her books today, and also cleaned up her room to get everything all nice & tidy after we pulled out and played with so much this morning.
After trying lots of times to go potty, I told her if she could pee in the potty, she could play with her water table. So we put on her bikini to get her ready. She had her first-ever string cheese, which she was really into. We did a video call with Grammy & Grandmommie, while Meggie & the triplets were over there getting ready for swim lessons.
We decided to try the potty again, and finally at 5:40, for the first time since 8am, EMERSON PEED IN THE POTTY! And it wasn’t traumatic. As she was telling me, “I don’t wanna go,” I heard it start trickling out! She told me she didn’t want me to cheer and yell, so I very quietly clapped my hands and told her how proud I was of her. But I couldn’t help how excited I was, so we started yelling and running down the hall to go tell Daddy about it!
And then we finally got to play outside in the water!! We set up her water table and an extra umbrella, and kept the hose close by to spray her down. She loved the hose sprayer, and kept asking us to mist her again. Jeff and I set up our beach chairs in the grass, and we stayed out there for about 45 minutes, and it was so nice and so magical!
Our neighbor stopped by on his dog-walk (Emerson loves their dog Momo), and we chatted for a few minutes, and they offered to help out with anything at the house while we’re in Jax. He even offered to mow our yard for us while we’re gone! (I feel certain we’ll take him up on that, especially since he has a riding mower, and he’d get it done with relative ease.)
We got these mini chicken tacos at Trader Joe’s this morning, and dang they’re delicious. The little corn tortillas get nice and crispy in the oven, and they’re just so good!
My phone died after dinner, but it was almost her bedtime at that point anyways, so she put on her jammies (mostly by herself, with a little bit of help here and there), and did our bedtime routine. She wouldn’t go pee on the potty again, but we’re still hoping we’ve turned a corner and tomorrow will go well with potty situation.
After our big day of playing and cleaning and all the fun we had, I am honestly exhausted! We had a great day together though, and I loved all the time I got to spend with my baby girl. She was super sweet all day, and literally the only issues we had were surrounding potty issues (before the time she finally went). It felt like a sweet, magical day with my best girl!
