Yesterday, Emmie left Sheppy in the car, so Jeff went out late to get him. After he brought him inside, I said, “Where is he so I can hide him.” He pointed to the basket of clean towels he had brought in from the dryer, so I leaned down to pick him up. He was like, “No, leave him there, that’s where I want him. See his little legs are crossed?” So, we left him in the towels!
Emmie found him quickly this morning, and then carried him around with her all morning while getting dressed, and doing the advent calendar.
So a few weeks ago, I bought this shirt for Emmie from Target, just because it was cute and I liked the color. Then when I was setting out all her clothes for this week, and digging through her pants drawer, I found these hand-me-down pants, and the color of the leaves and the shirt was a perfect match! I got so excited to pair them together! Also, Grandmommie got Emmie some cute little knit gloves, and she was so excited to wear them today.
This adorable picture was sent to Meggie from the triplets’ teacher, Ms. Q, and I love it so very much. These are the sweetest cousin girls!
And Emmie made a cute little hand-print ornament for craft time today with her teachers.
She had a bag of “crunch crunch” leftover from yesterday, and a second bag from today, and she brought “Cloud Bubbles” the unicorn in the car this morning, and she was super excited to see both the cereal and the stuffy after school.
I made some grilled pork chops on my Calphalon grill pan, and had planned to make rice and black-eyed peas, only I didn’t actually have any black-eyed peas. So I subbed out a can of corn instead, and this meal actually turned out really good! Emmie didn’t actually like the “chicken,” but she ate enough corn & rice to make up for it.
While we were eating dinner tonight, Emmie asked if Sheppy was gonna disappear again and move while she was sleeping. I said, “Yep, he’s gonna go someplace new to follow the star to look for Baby Jesus.” She was like, “and where was he this morning?” And Jeff responded, “Remember? He was lounging in the laundry!” And I just loved that phrase, and said, “Welp, there’s my blog title for today!”
We played a little after dinner, and watched a little bit of the animated “Grinch” from a couple of years ago on Netflix, which Emmie is slightly obsessed with lately. She picked this snowman book for me to read tonight, and when I took a quick pause to take this first photo, I guess I took too long, so the second photo is her looking up at me, like, “What you doing, Mommy?”
Every night we have a little routine of “meds & creams” we do for Emmie, like baby Asprin, children’s vitamin gummy, vitamin E oil on her scar, and some cream on her face for her sensitive skin (especially in the cold, dry winter weather). Plus we always brush her hair. So I always toss it to Jeff as we finish each thing, for him to put away in her dresser, and I always say, “incoming” before tossing. But now Emerson has decided she wants to be the one to do that, so she stumbles over the word “incoming,” and does a terrible little-girl-throw, and it’s so adorable and silly.
Bedtime went well, and the leftovers from dinner were already put away, and the dirty dishes can wait until another day. (I just rarely have the energy anymore these days to wash dishes after all the other chores of the evening.) We made some more hot tea tonight, because it seems we’re now to that point in the year where we drink hot tea every night before bed. And even though last night I wrote about liking to choose a new flavor every night, the peach was SO good last night, I just had to have it again tonight. I’ve been drinking it while blogging, and it was so good again, it makes me want to go make a second cup right now!
