Lost in the Woods

The kitchen was too much of a mess this morning, and I didn’t feel like cooking, and I needed something “low-carb.” (Tried to eat more low-carb, low-sugar than usual lately, since I’m doing my 3-hour glucose test tomorrow.) So I sent Jeff out to grab us food. Emmie had a delicious-looking biscuit and ate the entire thing. I got an omelette-bowl-thing (sans bread or potatoes), which was also good, but I wished I had a biscuit!

Emerson had of course woken up super early this morning, so we were moving really slow and it took us a few hours to finally feel awaken up to do anything. So around 9:45, we got up and finally started cleaning the house. I’ve been so worn out with that first-trimester-exhaustion lately, that I haven’t felt much like keeping the house neat and tidy. But I had finally had enough and couldn’t stand it anymore, so we did a super cleanup blitz for about 45 minutes, and made a little lot of progress.

Then at 10:30, we alsl sat back down to watch church online together. Well, Jeff and I watched church, and Emerson kept herself entertained on her Kindle. 😆

We folded some laundry while we watched church, and then I got her some cheese noodles made for lunch afterwards. She ate, and then we got her ready for nap time.

I left Jeff at home working on more chores and tidying around the house, and then I ran to Walmart to get our grocery pickup order. I also picked up Taco Bell on our way home, and again chose the low-carb option of a grilled chicken power bowl, which was actually really good and I would definitely eat again.

Jeff worked on more chores and laundry, while I washed a big sink full of dishes and got the kitchen cleaned up. And then Emerson woke up, just shy of a two-hour nap. her little head and hair always gets so sweaty when she sleeps, and she wakes up with things looking a mess. But it’s really cute and one of my favorite things. She had one of her leftover donuts from yesterday for her afternoon snack, and then we snuggled and watched a little bit of Peter rabbit while she woke up more.

And we got the living room and kitchen looking so much better!

We got Emmie dressed in some “real clothes,” and then headed over to help Nita with a little chore… A lady in their church wanted to donate some food to another member of their church, but she had loaded it up in some big gigantic tubs, that were super heavy, and Nita needed Jeff to go and pick them up. So we drove over to her house, and Jeff loaded the stuff up in Nita’s car, and Emerson ran about 20 laps around the small front yard.

Oh yeah, I had to create a little canopy over her car seat, cuz the sun was so bright.

When we got back home, all three of us laced up our tennis shoes, and Emerson grabbed her bear to push in the stroller, and we went on a short little 25-ish-minute walk before dinner.

When we started walking up this hill, Emerson looked up and said, “We’re going to be lost in the woods up there!” which is what she has started saying anytime she sees a bunch of trees around us, because of the “Lost in the Woods” song from Frozen 2, which is her favorite from the movie!

I made super delicious honey mustard chicken salad for dinner, that both Jeff and I absolutely loved. I baked the chicken in the oven, with just salt pepper and paprika, and then for the last few minutes drizzled it with a homemade honey mustard vinaigrette dressing. And let me tell you something, there’s a certain amount of pride that comes with a delicious homemade dressing, and this one was one of the best I’ve made!

Little Miss Priss just wanted ranch, not Mommy’s fancy homemade vinaigrette, but she still ate good anyways.

And since she ate really good at dinner, let her have her choice of candy from her trick-or-treat farm basket. She chose sprees, and sat right next to me in the arm rest snacking and watching a movie.

While she was eating her snacks, I was working on my pregnancy announcement blog post (!!!), and then we got her ready for bed.

I decided to treat myself by lighting my favorite Laurel mercantile candle, in honor of our pregnancy announcement, and finally having the house clean for the first time in a few weeks. It smells amazing of course and I’ve been hoarding that thing for about a year and a half now, trying to make it last as long as possible.

And now that the cat’s finally out of the bag, I can freely share things like why I’ve been so tired lately and why at the end of most blog posts, I’m already so tired, and looking forward to bedtime, even though it’s just before 9:00 p.m. right now!
