Honorable Mention

In this first photo, Emerson just look impossibly TALL to me! So tall and lanky, she’s just the skinniest little thing still! And in all the other photos, she just looks smiley, happy and adorable!

I finished an audio book yesterday while I was making the chili, so I started a new one this morning after dropping Emerson at school. I wasn’t too impressed with the one I finished though, so I won’t even remind you what that one was…

We had our chili cook-off at work for lunch today, and everything went great! We had seven Crock-Pots of chili, three judges, and about 20-30 people eating. We all went around putting tiny amounts in our bowls so we could try a bite or two, and there were one or two of them that I liked just as much as mine. In the end, I ate half of a bowl of mine, and half a bowl of the one that ended up winning 2nd place. Mine won “honorable mention” from the judges, but was chosen as the “Chief’s Choice” from our Bureau Chief Michelle! (I was too busy with my hands too full to take any photos once the eating began…)

Jeff was working at one of his side job places tonight after work, so Emerson and I just grabbed Chick-fil-A for dinner on the way home, for ease & convenience & such. I actually had a free 8-count nugget in my app, so I ordered our dinner at a stop light, picked it up in the drive-thru, in & out, easy peasy. Emerson fed Pretzel when we got home, then we sat down at the table to feed ourselves!

We had some play time together after dinner, read some books, and watched old 1-second-every-day videos, because she loves watching videos of herself. Then I got her in her jammies and decided to introduce her to “The Lion King.” The original, animated one from 1994. We kind of skipped through and watched mostly just the songs, but she liked it, and I got lots of sweet cuddles!

We went back to read some books and get ready for bed, but she needed an extra snack, so we grabbed a bag of Goldfish and shared them. She was good to go after that, and bedtime went pretty smoothly. Jeff got home about 15 minutes after putting her down, so I’m glad he’s here with me now. I actually feel like I have a cold coming on, so I’m going to drink some Emergen-C, and hopefully I can kick it before it gets too bad!
