Sweet little girl in her cherry dress, ready for a short, 4-day week, ending in a 3-day weekend, to celebrate July 4th!
Had to change out for a bran new band-aid this morning, not necessarily because her toe needed it, but because she thought she needed it.
I always love to see her carrying her own little backpack into school.
On my morning break at home today, I threw all this into the Crock-Pot, put it on low, and let it start slow-cooking for our dinner tonight, to be served over white rice, with a side of broccoli. This is a recipe given to me last summer from our friend Lisel, when I asked for easy, family-friendly meals while the boys were here. Y’all came through with a few winners, so please send me some more again this summer, so I can try some new, easy recipes!
My co-worker Angie texted me this morning, saying that she had watered my two plants in my office for me, and we talked for a bit about how well all of our plants are doing. I took a few photos to send her photographic evidence of all the new growth on my house plants. I only have five, but all five are doing so well this summer!
So I’ve actually had this peace lily for the past four years – it was a gift from a work friend back in 2016, that she sent to my Granddaddy’s funeral for me. I took it home, and have been very proud of how long I’ve taken care of it. (Historically, I’m actually not good with plants.) But this summer, it’s blooming again for the first time in almost four years, and it makes me so happy! The fourth anniversary of my Granddaddy’s death is actually coming up in just over a month, so this bloom feels like perfect timing in his honor. ♥
And two of my outdoor plants (not including landscaping), are doing AMAZING – my herb garden is very healthy and growing like crazy, and my cute little succulent is doing so well too!
My Tater Tot had another great day at school, and told me all about the flag she made during art time with her hand-prints and red and blue and white.
After picking up Emerson from school, I only had to cook rice & steam broccoli to get dinner finished up and on the table, which of course was super easy.
Oh and I plucked a couple leaves of basil and some sprigs of green onions (for my plate only since I knew no one else would like it), and Emerson helped by cutting some unnecessary mint 😉 But luckily, we obviously have tons of it, so there’s plenty to spare!
Lisel’s recipe didn’t actually include onion & red pepper, but I felt like experimenting a bit this time, and it was a really good addition to the meal.
This nugget ate so well tonight – she absolutely loves meatballs, and loves rice, and she went to town!
After dinner, Emmie, Gabe and I played with Play-Doh, while Ryan and Jeff worked on hanging some more cabinets.
She requested I make a snail, and I think it turned out pretty cute.
There are 12 total upper cabinet doors, and we’ve got 11 of them all hung now. They could have finished the 12th one, but we were short two hinges, since we tested out gold spray paint on two too many hinges. So Jeff is going back to Home Depot again (probably tomorrow) to buy two more white hinges for the last upper cabinet, and all the rest of the hinges to spray paint for the lowers.
BUT YOU GUYS!!! Look at this beautiful bright white kitchen! (And just imagine that the last white door was already hung.)
Emerson tried to tell me she wasn’t tired and wanted to stay up late and she never wanted to sleep, all while whining and crying and clearly being very sleepy. So we grabbed her an Anna Go-Gurt, got her in her jammies, and started the bedtime routine anyways.
She was super sweet and pretty easy to get down, and girlfriend was definitely tired. When I came out of her room, I found all of the boys working on some chores! Gabe was doing dishes, Ryan was folding a load of their clean clothes, and Jeff was folding & hanging some of our clean clothes.
So now that the blog is done, and they’ve taken care of the chores, I now get to just sit down and chill! We’re moving onto the next Star Wars movie (Rogue One) in the series, and I think everyone wants popcorn, which I think sounds like an excellent idea.
