Greens & Dumplings

Our second day of school and work this week, and also our last! We have the day off work tomorrow, so we’ll keep the girls home with us, and have ourselves another nice, long holiday weekend. But drop-off this morning went great!

This little girl was so cute as I walked back by her classroom window on the way out, giving me the biggest, squishiest smile!

Our Bureau Chief brought in a crock pot full of homemade chicken & dumplings that her husband made; another coworker made a crock pot of collard greens from her backyard garden; and a third coworker brought homemade jalapeno cornbread. And we had ourselves a nice homemade lunch right there in the office, for the few of us that were actually there today!

Addison spent most of the day in the next classroom up from hers, preparing for her official move up next year! 😉

I got stuck at work just a little late, about 15-20 minutes, but I was still able to pick up the girls and get home at almost the same time as usual, because the traffic was nonexistent. While I got dinner started, Jeff ran to Publix for some missing sour cream, and Ryan got Addison out of her car seat once she woke up. They just sat on the couch playing and hanging out, and she would look over at me in the kitchen and give me the biggest, happiest smiles!

Ryan even took this selfie with her 🙂

We had taquitos with yellow rice and black beans, one of our family favorites. We always get the chicken & cheese ones, but we also tried the beef & bean ones too, and those were also really good.

After dinner we got both girls in their jammies; I fed Addison a bottle, and we let Emmie eat some chocolate chip cookies while we watched an episode of Daniel Tiger.

Addison fell asleep easily after her bottle, and after I snuggled and cuddled her little sleepy self for a long while, I laid her down in her bed.

Emerson got to stay up a little late tonight, watching “Elf” with Daddy, and then we started up on her usual bedtime routine.

Addison only slept in her bed for about an hour, and she woke up already, just a few minutes ago. Jeff went and grabbed her, and is going to put her sleep sack on her to get her warmed up, then rock her for a bit, and she should be ready to lay back down again soon. Hopefully…

Also, I’ve started another old season of Survivor tonight, Season 7 – Pearl Islands, and with it’s kind of “pirate” theme from 2003, I’m really liking it so far. I’ve always loved the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie franchise, and it’s giving me those vibes.
