We took our photos outside on the sidewalk this morning, just in case Addison had another rough drop-off. So these girls looked so pretty and happy and adorable! Luckily though, Addie’s teacher was back from vacation today, and drop-off went so much more smoothly today!
And they both had a good day at school, walking around and playing with friends and working on learning to read words!
They have this super cute little display for all the VPK graduates, so we had to take a picture there on our way out today after school! (In case it’s hard to tell, Emerson’s photo-head is to the upper-diagonal from her real-head 🙂 )
Baby sister fell asleep on the way home, just like almost every other day, for our tired baby girl.
I got some small, less-expensive steaks with last weekend’s grocery order, so I cooked those with brussel sprouts in the air fryer, with some instant mashed potatoes on the side. It wasn’t fancy, but it was a little different than usual. And Jeff made me feel good about it, saying how nice it was to come home after a stressful day in the office (he went into the actual office building all day today), and get to eat home-cooked steak & potatoes. I kinda demurred saying the steak was overdone, and it was just instant potatoes, but he insisted it was great and he loved it and thanked me multiple times. (Emerson just had a Lunchable, which she also loved 😉 )
Addison was absolutely covered in mashed potatoes after dinner, so I got her in the bath by herself, but Emerson didn’t feel liek it, so I just let her skip it. After getting Addie cleaned up, we sat down in the living room to play, but girlfriend just got up and walked all the way down the hallway to her bedroom, so her and I played back there for a while.
Emerson had some leftover birthday cake for her dessert, and then I started on her bedtime routine, brushing teeth, changing clothes, and reading a bedtime book. She was sweet and lovey, and she sang her bedtime lullaby to me tonight, which of course I loved.
Then it was time to get Addison ready for bed, and although yes she’s drinking a bottle still, we’ve moved her from formula to whole milk, and I’m so excited! At the beginning of Addie’s life, I talked freely a few times about us using formula (especially in her birth story post), because I was physically unable to breastfeed. The same happened with Emmie, but I was ashamed and kept it a secret, and finally blogged about it a year later. (And was so excited then too when we switched to milk.) Now, I’m a big supporter of “FED IS BEST,” and I don’t mind talking about my own struggles, and how grateful I was that formula exists. However, I’m also SUPER glad we now get to save $20/week (which adds up to $80/month!), by not buying formula! Anyways, yay for whole milk!
This was our last can of formula, that we officially finished yesterday, and now we’re moving our Brezza off the counter, that’s been squished up next to the coffee pot for the past year. (This is basically just like a hot-water tank that kept water warm to make formula bottles with.)
Not only do we not have to buy formula anymore, but we don’t even have to send milk to school, because they will now provide all the milk for Addison (well, it’s included in our tuition of course). So again, yay for whole milk! Clearly, I’m excited about this 😉
I’ve got a pile of dishes to wash tonight, so I better get goin’ on that now… But I’m just gonna leave this picture here of Addie from this date 1 year ago, when she was just the tiniest little 5-day-old Chickpea!
