We had a very slow morning around the house – ate some toast & coffee for breakfast, Emmie carried her baby around in her “baby carrier” mermaid backpack, and Addie bounced around for a while.
I loved her little hand wrapped around my wrist while I fed her, and I made Jeff come over to take a photo or two.
Early this morning, Jeff went for a rapid covid test, which came back negative. But he needed some rest, so Dave (my FIL) took the boys back to see another movie, while Jeff rested at home, and I hung with the girls. Emmie ate some leftover cheese noodles for lunch, and I made this gigantic, and delicious, salad for my own lunch.
Emerson took a nap right after lunch, and I took Addison to Urgent Care to check for for an ear infection. We sat there for nearly two hours, to finally see the doctor for like two minutes, for him to tell us her ears were clear, and that she was probably just teething. So it was annoying, and took way too long, but at least it wasn’t another ear infection…
Addie stayed awake the whole time we were there, then passed out in the car, and slept another hour or so once we got home. I sat down with my iced coffee just to get some chill time for myself, and some little girl came over and swiped it from me!
We rested a little, and then tidied up the living room (it was an absolute cluttered mess), and then we drove across town. I picked up Nana and we made a quick run into Big Lots, looking for Christmas clearance again (with no luck for stockings). Then we headed off for dinner at the Wharf, followed by lots of fun at Urban Air!
She was doing this crazy count-to-100 song she does at school, jumping all around like a crazy woman, while waiting for our food to come out.
I ordered these delicious honey pecan crispy shrimp, and they were sooo sweet, but really good. Those gouda cheese grits though are the best!
And Addison had her first taste of grits tonight, and although she wasn’t so sure about the new texture at first, but then she ended up liking it, and after she finished all of her baby food, had quite a few bites of Nana’s grits too!
There weren’t too many people there tonight, but there definitely weren’t enough staff there, and although we had a few minor issues with other kids being rude or doing the wrong things, but our kids had a great time. Ryan and Gabe were also the best big brothers taking care of Emmie while they all jumped and did the activities, and did a great job helping her.
This nugget stayed awake the whole time, even though she was exhausted, just watching everything and looking at all thel ights and people and everything.
We got there around 6:30pm, and let Emmie jump until around 8pm, when we told her all the girls had to go home (even though the boys were planning to stay until about 10pm). Even though she was completely worn out, she didn’t want to leave and had herself a total meltdown on the way out. She didn’t want to leave, and also wanted an icee, but I finally got her calmed down for us to head out. And I promised her an icee tomorrow afternoon 🙂
On the way home though, we saw fireworks off in the trees, and so I found a parking lot to pull over so Emmie could watch them for a few minutes. She was super excited about that, and then she was happy and in a good mood.
I got both girls ready for bed, then fed Addison a bottle. She fell asleep instantly, and I was able to lay her down in her crib just a few minutes after that. Then Emerson asked for some special cuddle times in Mommy’s bed, so that’s what we did.
She was actually really easy to get to bed tonight since she was so tired, and things went smoothly. Jeff and the boys got home a few minutes ago while I was writing this, and now I’m just trying to decide if I think I can stay awake long enough to ring in the New Year, of if I’ll just greet it in the morning 😉
The past couple of years, I’ve done a yearly recap post to share some of my favorite posts from each month for the past year. I wanted to do it again this year, and I started it, but was too busy and never made it past February… So maybe I’ll work on that some over the next few days, and still try to post it sometime next week. Regardless, I’m still ready to say goodbye to another year tonight!
