Today was our fourth annual Galentine’s Tea Party. We woke up early and ate a small tiny breakfast of half a muffin, and then got busy working! We had a few more things to take care of around the house this morning, plus getting ourselves ready, and working on the food. Jeff left to go to breakfast & a movie with his dad, then all the ladies came over, all bearing gorgeous platters of delicious food, and we had a lovely tea party!
I made little jars of DIY coffee coconut scrub for everyone, and Nita made cute little photo frames of Emerson for everyone. So cute!
I made a frittata for the first time, and it turned out perfectly! I was honestly so proud of myself for this. I looked up a few recipes from three of my favorite bloggers, mashed their recipes together, made a few changes, and mine turned out great! (I’ll be sending my recipe to my family in an email, let me know if you want the recipe too.)
My Mama made deviled eggs, Aunt Jane made pimento cheese sandwiches, Nita made chicken salad & chocolate covered strawberries, Grandmommie made a cream cheese blueberry pie, Aunt Suzanne made fruit tarts, and we had scones, sea salt dark chocolate almonds, two charcuterie boards, and macarons. Everything was super delicious!
The plates weren’t even big enough for all the delicious treats!
Emerson tried deviled eggs for the first time today, and it turns out she really loved them, and her and Aunt Meggie did “cheers” with the eggs.
So grateful for all of these wonderful ladies that are also my family!
Grandmommie read “Madeline” to Emerson…
While these ladies blessed me by doing all the clean-up & dish-washing 🙂
And these matching “tea for two” aprons that Aunt Jane gave us for Christmas were absolutely perfect for today!
And Aunt Jane gave me this cute, pretty little cream pitcher as a hostess gift today, and it was just so perfectly fitting for today’s festivities.
You have NO IDEA how many photos I had to coach her through to get just a couple adorable tea cup shots, but they did turn out adorable!!
Once everyone started trickling out after the tea party, it was nap time. Emerson chose Grandmommie to hold her for lullabies, and she laid her down and then Grammy & Grandmommie headed out. But about 10 minutes later, I had to go in and do the lullabies again, because she was calling for me. We did all the songs, and I laid her down and shew was OK for a bit. But then she started singing “the farmer in the dell,” and “Jesus loves me,” and hollering, “Mommyyyy I not tirrrrreeeddd!!!”
So I got her up to play for another hour…
We went back to do lullabies again, and she was sound asleep by the second of four songs, snoring lightly and drooling on my shoulder. Once I laid her in her crib, I went out and curled up on the couch, while Jeff was in the recliner. And then all three of us napped for two hours. And it was glorious. (Last night on the way home from Walmart, I told Jeff, “I can’t wait to nap tomorrow.” So I was super glad it actually worked out today.
After we all woke up from our naps, actually we had to wake Emerson up at 5:30, because she was still sleeping after 2 hours & 15 minutes, we played and cuddled a little bit, and then got out all the leftover tea party foods and had a snack-supper.
After we finished eating, I was working some more to put away all the tea, tea cups, saucers & tea pots, and Emerson was following me around. She came over and said, “I wanna play a record!” And picked up this one and handed it to me. The girl’s got good taste!
We had bath time after dinner, and she was just playing so sweetly with all her little water toys. And she continued to be super sweet afterwards too.
Even though I had already brushed her hair, she thought she needed to do it again herself.
Since she had such a late nap, we let her stay up a little later after bath time, hoping to tire her out before bedtime. We watched a little bit of “Elf,” (she loves Mr. Buddy the Elf), and she gave Pretzel lots of sweet hugs and kisses.
She was just so precious with everything tonight, and was so sweet and loving. We did books and prayers and hugs, and then we talked for a while about the tea party and all the girls who were here, and how much fun we had today.
As I’ve been writing this post, Jeff had to go back in there to hold her and rock her again, because she was singing the ABC’s and counting to 10, and calling for us. So he got her to calm down & lay in her bed, but she’s calling for me again, so I might have to go back in there again…
We had such a great day today! I didn’t actually even leave my house, except to help Nana get everything out to the car when she left, and this introvert loved it! Next year, we’ll have three more little toddlers running around at the party, and that’ll be so much fun! (The party was during their nap time today, so Meg left them at home to sleep, because those girls need to stay on their schedule in order to function.) I always love hosting our annual Galentine’s Tea Party, and I know all the ladies always look forward to it.
(And here are the tea party posts for 2018 and 2019 if you’re interested.)
