Fun Arts & French Onion

I’m back on my teddy graham iced latte kick again as of today. I made more cinnamon brown sugar syrup first thing this morning at like 8am, while Jeff ran out to get the grocery order and donuts for breakfast.

Emerson had a fun little one-day kids conference today called Winter Blitz. It rotates churches every year, but this year was at a church here in town, so that was really convenient for us. So we dropped her off at the church after breakfast, and then we went back home and did chores for a few hours. We showered and had lunch and then went back over to the church to watch her perform her vocal solo for the “Fun Arts” portion of the day, and she did such a great job! She sang “Worthy of it All” by Cece Winans, and was just so sweet and adorable.

These were two little photography students and the pictures they submitted. And they both did a great job too!

We had a little bit of down time after that, and went back home to get Addie down for a nap, and fold a bunch of loads of clean clothes. Jeff was also excited about this new t-shirt he got, and wanted to show it off for a photo.

I ran back up to the church eventually to pick up Emerson at the end of their event. She and Jeff both did a quick outfit change, and then they ran out for a sweet little Daddy-Daughter dinner date! After a big, tearful talk a few weeks ago about the daddy-daughter dance, and how she doesn’t actually like going (because it’s so loud and there are so many people and she gets overwhelmed), but feels left out when all the other girls talk about it. So instead, she said she’d rather just get a fancy dinner and dessert (mainly the dessert part!) with Daddy and that would make her happy instead. So that’s what they did! She wanted the pizookie at BJ’s Brewhouse, so they had dinner there as well, and they were so cute.

She picked out her her whole outfit, boots, and accessories and was very proud of her whole look.

Jeff said she was just being so sweet and cuddly, and even though they were in those small two-top booths, she still scooched in close to him for a while. He also said that older couple across the way were just enamored with her, and kept saying how special and sweet she was.

Back at home, I decided to make myself some homemade French onion soup for the first time. I accidentally bought a second bag of onions last week, when my bag from the week before was still basically full. And in this house, we don’t waste onions, so I decided to give this a try. It was a fun experiment, and turned out delicious. It wasn’t a lot of work, it just took a long time to caramelize the onions.

And this little cutie laid cuddled up on the couch eating a bowl of bread and cheese for her little mouse dinner. (That’s all she wanted, and honestly I was fine with that tonight.)

And yes, I made myself two bowls, because these little ramekins are perfectly adorable, but also very tiny. But it turned out perfectly delicious!

After dinner, I got Addie set up to color on the coffee table with crayons, and I got myself set up to color on my tv-tray with my new markers, while we watched “Zootopia” together. And then Daddy & Emmie made it home, and we were very glad to have them back home.

Of course we watched Bluey and cuddled and then went on back for books and bedtime. As Addie ate a bowl of tortilla chips in bed, I read the Hungry Caterpillar book, which reminded me of two very snacky little girlies.

Then this girl was so exhausted, she truly fell asleep while I did her lullabies and prayers. Even taking this picture with the flash on didn’t make her stir even a bit.

I’m exhausted now too, and plus it’s after 10:30 so it’s almost bed time. I actually have some of those little footie mask things on, so I’ll go deal with that, and then get myself ready for sleep soon.
