Even though today felt like a Monday, thank goodness it was a Tuesday! Emmie had a field trip with her “Creative Academics” (aka gifted) class, to the Birdsong Nature Center in Thomasville. And Addie just had a giant bite of granola bar in her mouth 🙂
Addie and I were so excited to see family members back at school again this morning! Today was Hayden’s first day at daycare, and Meg’s first day back in the office after a 3-month maternity leave with baby brother. We didn’t actually plan our arrivals at the same time, it just worked out perfectly that way, and we were so glad it did!
Addie Pie was painting the letter “N” at school today.
Back in 2012, when Jeff and I had been together for about a year, we took a day-trip to Panama City Beach. We rode our bikes up and down Front Beach Road to & from lunch, and then went swimming in St. Andrews State Park. We stopped in one of those little tourist beach shops and got matching friendship bracelets.
So while we were there this weekend, he actually remembered that (I had forgotten), and suggested we get bracelets for all four of us, kind of like a full-circle moment, 12 years later! So at home tonight, while I was getting dinner taken care of, we all tied on our new friendship bracelets we got over the weekend. And it was just so cute and sweet!
This morning, I had put some frozen chicken breasts and sliced onions into the crock-pot, and then smothered it in some orange stir-fry sauce from Aldi. It smelled great when we walked in after work. So then I just made some honey-roasted baby carrots, a pot of fresh jasmine rice, and shredded up the chicken. This was so super yummy, and the girls absolutely devoured it. Emmie had a second helping of rice, and Addie had a second helping of chicken.
This is the sauce I used, and used basically the whole bottle. And there was still plenty of the chicken & rice (and a tiny bit of carrots) leftover for two more bowls to take to lunch the rest of the week.
The rest of the evening went by as usual – cuddles, snacks, Bluey, books, bedtime…
And now I’m gonna keep watching a movie I started on Netflix, while I paint my nails before bedtime.
