This tiny girl looks so cute in anything she wears, but I really liked her in these little shorts and sandals today. Also, she had a little chocolate smudge on her chin from her granola bar, that I didn’t notice until after this first photo 🙂
I love these silly faces she makes!
Lunch-time today meant throwing dinner in the crock-pot, and re-creating our chicken gyros & Greek salads from last night’s leftovers. And it was still sooooo good. I absolutely loved the chicken gyros. That homemade tzatziki was on point. Seriously delicious.
Emmie did actually take a nap today, but it was a short one. She did however have tons of fun playing with her little friends in class today!
While dinner finished up, Emmie and I did some cuddling and playing and jumping on the couch.
We had Crock-Pot shredded buffalo chicken sandwiches, with bleu cheese crumbles, lettuce & tomato, with onion rings and carrots on the side. And the chicken turned out really good! I made wayy too much though, so I put up a small container for lunch this week, and a larger container in the freezer for later down the road.
We were watching “Rio” after dinner, and Emmie started flapping her little arms around and flying like a birdie. So Daddy picked her up and flew her around the living room, which she absolutely loved of course.
As usual, the potty was a no-go, but I figure we’ll just keep on trying every night, and one day, somethin’s gotta give… right???
After getting her jammies on, she sat there sweetly flipping through her Bible storybook, choosing which story she wanted tonight. She flipped for a while, and couldn’t find it, so I asked which one she wanted, and she was like, “Um, a storm & water and Jesus….did….” So I found the story of when Jesus calms the storm, and she confirmed that’s the one she wanted.
And once again, the story reminded me of her surgery situation – the goodnight prayer at the end of the story said, “Dear Jesus, there are times when I’m afraid. But I can always trust you to help me through life’s scary storms.”
Today marks four years since we lost my sweet Granddaddy. When he passed away, it certainly felt like it wasn’t truly his time, and it still feels that way a lot. We miss him all the time, and wish more than anything he was still here, especially because we know he would absolutely cherish and adore his four great-granddaughters.
He loved fishing, and FSU football, peanut butter everything, and buying cars at Stallings in Cairo. He loved reading (just like me) and playing cards and games and doing crossword puzzles (also just like me). He loved teaching his Sunday school class, and he loved his family. He was the best Granddaddy, and I wish so much he was still here! But the one thing we can cling to, is that we will see him again in Heaven one day! Love you & miss you, Granddaddy!
