First Truck Bed Ride

We had an early morning Walmart grocery pick-up, so we also picked up breakfast from Burger King before heading back home. I got Emmie the French toast sticks, but wouldn’t you know she ended up eating quite a plenty few bites of my sausage, egg & cheese croissanwich too 😉

And then breakfast was immediately followed by a snack, when she saw me unloading the Anna & Elsa go-gurts we got this morning.

We did bath time early today, to better match up with the rest of our schedule. She’s still completely enamored by the dino egg bath bombs Aunt Meggie and Uncle Bo gave her, and today she chose the purple one. Inside, was this tiny yellow dinosaur! She’s gotten four out of the six already, and she’s obsessed with the teeny tiny things!

We both got dressed for the day, and ventured out for a quick trip to Goodwill. There are a few specific things I’m now searching for, but we had no luck today, so we weren’t out for long before we came back home.

I ended up finishing my little 270-ish-page novella late last night. So while I browsed the library’s Kindle choices, Emmie sat in my lap with her Kindle. I’m feeling a bit of a book hangover though, because I loved that last series so much, and I still feel immersed in that world and story, and nothing sounds very good today! I finally chose a Sue Monk Kidd book that I’ve read before and loved, and figured it was time for a re-read.

Little Bit had a turkey sandwich for lunch, and then went down easily for nap time, after a few books and a few lullabies, and a few versus of “Jesus Loves Me.”

While Emmie napped, I worked on chores, ate my own lunch, and watched some of the newest episodes of “Call the Midwife” on Netflix. (Oh, and Jeff was off doing one of his on-the-side IT jobs today, so that’s why I haven’t mentioned him yet, and there’s no photos of him.) And then once Emerson woke up, we headed off to Grammy & Papa’s house for a little family time and dinner. Miss Priss ended up getting two more gifts when we got there, and a new llama toothbrush from Grammy.

And then we went for a nice walk down the street, in this amazing weather we had today! On our way back towards the house, we saw Uncle Keith and Aunt Suzanne coming, so we flagged them down, and Emmie had her first ride in the back of a truck!

She was a little scared at first, and holding on tight to Grammy with a bit of a death grip, but she eventually relaxed a little bit and enjoyed the short ride down Grammy’s street.

And they brought their new puppy Bella with them again, and Bella and Emmie were both just completely obsessed with each other, practically tied together at the hip all night long!

She waited about an hour, but couldn’t wait any longer to try it out, and she had to just brush her teeth with her new toothbrush and toothpaste, right there in the living room!

Grandmommie made dinner for us, a family favorite pasta dish called Johnny Mazzetti (or some-such-spelling), corn on the cob and garlic bread, and Emmie went to town on that corn on the cob!

Emmie thought she wanted to sit in one of these seats like the triplets, but not on the counter, so Papa carried her in it from the kitchen to the dining room, and then she sat in the seat on the table eating her dessert, and sneaking drinks of tea from the grown-ups’ cups.

Uncle Keith took her out in the backyard after dinner, and Emmie and Bella just ran around in the grass, having the best of time, and enjoying the nice weather.

Not only was Emmie tied to Bella all night, but also Aunt Suzanne. She wanted to sit by her at dinner, and stay close to her all night, and chose her to put her jammies on before we left. These are some new jammies from Aunt Jane, and I love the tiny cacti all over them!

Poor little peanut had a super hard time leaving the family tonight, and leaving the baby puppy, and was very sad we had to go home. But I put on some of her favorite songs from “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure,” and just a few minutes down the road, she calmed down and was okay. Tired and whiny, and still didn’t want to leave Grammy’s house, but she was at least calm.

We needed to do one more video call with Grammy when we got home to tell her goodnight, and then she was good to go. She told me plenty of times that she didn’t want to sleep, but I was able to get her down around 8:30. She started crying for me a few minutes later, because she needed to go to the bathroom again, but after that quick trip, and a few seconds of snuggles, she was fine. I haven’t heard from her again since then, so I assume she’s now sleeping soundly.

I have to go back to working in the office tomorrow, so I’ve got to finish getting all my stuff packed up and ready for the morning. I’ve got a ton of stuff to take back with me, so I’m going to get it loaded in the car tonight, and I’ve arrange for my boss to meet me at the loading dock with a cart, so I don’t have to awkwardly lug 50 pounds of stuff half a mile from my car to my office. So that’s a blessing! I’m not exactly looking forward to it, so pray for the transition tomorrow for me!
