I was soooo hoping Emmie would sleep in a little today, but she woke up at 6:08am. So we snuggled and watched Buster the Bus videos together for a while.
And then we met up with the family for breakfast at Canopy Road Cafe.
Kensley sat next to Aunt Halie at breakfast.
Not pictured – my caramel apple pancake that as stinking delicious, but too much to eat. But my little triplet buddy Kensley helped me out, and she liked my eggs & caramel apples.
Since Grandmommie’s birthday was yesterday, we ordered her a surprise birthday cake pancake, complete with candles! She was so surprised, and she loved it!
Bo & Riley.
Grammy & Ellie.
Grandmommie and Riley.
Emerson wanted to ride in Grammy’s Jeep after breakfast, so she was very sad to leave her. But Grammy surprised Emerson with a large bag of gummy bears, and that helped the separation go better 😉
We ran home to grab a few things, and she picked up her purse, and started packing it up, and said she needed to make a call. She told me she was going to call Granddaddy, and then say, “Wut doin, Gandaddy?” It was so precious and sweet. Even though she’s never met her Granddaddy, we all know they would have loved each other very much!
We ran back to Beall’s outlet to return the pair of light gray throw pillows we bought last weekend, that were too light for our couch. I lost the receipt somewhere this past week unfortunately, but they gave me store credit, so I’m sure I can find something else there that I’d like 🙂
We picked up a large grocery order from Walmart after Beall’s, complete with lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and ingredients to make three new recipes in the next week – one for Sunday school breakfast (the tater breakfast casserole in the Pioneer Woman cookbook below), a new chili recipe for a chili cook-off at work on Monday, and a sausage & veggie pasta for dinner one night.
Emerson ate cheese noodles for dinner once again, and then “helped” with the dishes for a little bit. She watched some videos with Daddy while I worked on the dishes some more, and then I got her down for her nap time.
While she napped, I was super productive – I washed ALLL of the dishes, threw in a load of laundry, cleaned the kitchen & living room, and wrote the first half of this blog. Jeff actually fell asleep himself for most of that time, so I was super-Mom doing it all myself! 🙂
She slept for about an hour and a half, and then woke up ready to play. Jeff brought home a bag of freebies from “Marion County Day” at the State Capitol the other day, so we were checking them all out. Emmie was wearing coozies on her arms like wrist cuffs, and then she loved taking notes with the new pen & notepad.
And then she felt the need to take out allllll the toys over on that side of the room…
After doing some more laundry we went out to run a few more errands. Nana & PopPop also met us, and did some shopping and dinner together. I really needed a new cutting board, so first we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond. My favorite one I always use is 6+ years old, and was well-used by this point. And then the other day it got left in the sink with some of the Indian Butter Chicken sauce on top of it, and the yellow, tumeric-filled sauce permanently stained my (used-to-be) white cutting board very yellow…
These super fancy Florida-shaped ones were so cute, and would be so cute to put out on display! But I just got myself a plain white one with the scoop edge and the rubber grip. That’s more my speed.
We had a quick, easy, cheap dinner at Whataburger, since we had coupons for BOGO meal deals.
And then we went to the other Beall’s outlet on the other side of town. I had that $20 merchandise credit burning a hole in my wallet, and I remembered seeing some baskets there last week that I was still thinking about. I thought they would be nice to use as toy storage in the living room, so we went to look for them. And I found them! Plus a few other things, like a brown-ish/tan-ish colored cardigan, and pink Crocs that Emerson picked out herself. Oh, and Nana also bought her that cute little unicorn purse.
We parted ways and went home after Beall’s Outlet, and get Emerson dressed and ready for bed. She was doing a lot of stalling tonight before bedtime, so it took quite a while to make it through our whole routine, but I got her down by 8:30-ish, so that wasn’t as bad as it could have been…
After getting Emerson in bed, I got busy cooking sausage, and working to put together the casserole to take to church tomorrow. Below you can see my old, smaller cutting board, and my bigger, new & improved one underneath it. So nice to have a new one! Plus, I had a coupon, so it was only $10.
I did a taste test of the sausage & onions, and just that alone was so yummy. I can’t wait to try this bad boy tomorrow. I’ll of course report back tomorrow night, if it was good or not. But let’s be honest, why would it not be? Sausage, tater tots, peppers, and cheeeeese 🙂 Also, I found the recipe on Food Network’s website, so if you don’t have her cookbook and you’re interested, click here.
I cleaned up after putting the final layer of cheese all over the top, rinsed the dishes, but I’ll save them for tomorrow to wash fully. After an early start to the day, full of chores and errands and cooking, I’m tired! Ready to put on my jammies, and kick my feet up on the couch for a while!
