Fabric, FSU & Funfetti

Today we started another long, holiday weekend, with another day off of work and school. We shared cheese bagels & toast with homemade mayhaw jelly (from Aunt Suzanne & Uncle Keith) for breakfast together.

We kinda lazed around for a while after that, and then Jeff went to help a friend with some computer stuff, and the girls and I went to Hobby Lobby, in hopes of finding Christmas stockings on clearance. That was another bust however, but we had fun wandering around the store for a little bit, just looking at everything.

She loved this little display with the flowers and the pink chairs, and climbed up here just to hang out all on her own. (Also, she picked her own dress and her shoes and all her accessories today.)

We had also randomly been talking about fabric, and I was trying to describe it for her this morning, so this was a good place to go look at some and explain more about “fabric.”

We were talking about the Seminoles and the Gators in the fabric section at Hobby Lobby, so I told Emmie we lived really close to FSU, so we took a little leisurely drive all through campus on our way back home. I didn’t attend FSU, but I pointed out some of the things I could, and told her all about Aunt Meggie going to school here.

Then we met up with Jeff and his friend Ed at Echalee for lunch. I got the carnitas lunch plate, and scarfed down every single bite, while fending off Emmie crawling all over me, and Addie fussing in her car seat because she was tired but wouldn’t fall asleep. It wasn’t a relaxing lunch, but it was delicious!

She did fall asleep as soon as we were in the car though, and stayed asleep in her seat for a quite a while after we got home. I got Emerson down for her nap, and then I had about 20 minutes before Addison woke up and was ready for another bottle and some play time. Jeff and the boys stayed out at lunch later than we did, and got DQ blizzards on the way home, so I had some time to watch some more Survivor before they got back home.

Late this afternoon once Emerson woke up, her and I made a Funfetti cake together, that we got in a goodie bag from Meg’s church a couple weeks ago. And without me even saying anything to her, she chose to put her “baking heels” on again today, which was adorable and hilarious to me.

After it finished baking, we let it cool off while I got busy making Shepherd’s Pie for dinner. Once I got that all put together and into the oven to bake and melt the cheese, the cake had cooled off enough to do the icing and sprinkles.

And my Shepherd’s pie (and a bunch of crescent rolls) came out perfectly tonight! I actually took a poll the other day whether everyone wanted this or chicken pot pie, and they all chose chicken pot pie. However, there’s apparently a shortage of pie crust shells, and I couldn’t find any, so plans changed, which was fine with me, since this was my choice from the start! 😉

By the time we were eating dinner, Addison was really fussy and fighting sleep, and Jeff wasn’t really feeling great. He’s had some mild sinus/cold stuff the last couple of days, but by tonight, it had really hit him. So he actually skipped dinner and went straight to bed. I fed Addie again after our dinner, and she continued to fuss and fight sleep for a while. It took about an hour of rocking and patting and shushing and bouncing, but I finally got her to sleep and laid her down in her crib. (There’s a slight chance she might have another ear infection, so we might end up taking her to urgent care tomorrow, so our pediatrician’s office is closed tomorrow. I might also force Jeff to go get a rapid covid test as well, just to be on the safe side.)

By 8pm, I was able to get Emerson in her bed and going through the bedtime routine. She picked this old school version of the Three Little Pigs to read tonight, and while I was reading it to her, she just placed her hand right on top of mine and left it there for a few minutes. It was so sweet and I loved it.

I did some dishes earlier, and Ryan finished up the rest of them for me tonight. Emmie had a piece of our cake for her dessert after dinner, but I’m heading off to get myself a piece now, now that I can sit and rest and enjoy it in some peace and quiet, while watching another episode of Survivor 😉 And yeah, I realize I’m slightly addicted, and definitely on a binge lately…
