Jeff and the boys got up & moving and out of the house early this morning, and Emmie and I were up early to see them off. She had a PopTart for a pre-breakfast appetizer, while telling me all about the three little piggies.
Then we packed up our swim bag, and went over to spend the day at Grammy & Papa’s house for the day. After a quick breakfast, Papa took Emerson on her first fishing trip out on Lake Monkey Business, with her very own tiny fishing pole he bought for her birthday!
She wanted to wear Grammy’s hat, and man she look like such a ham in that thing!
Oh and we found a Little Free Library out there, and there was a dinosaur book in it. It was so perfect!
All week she had been saying she “wanted to caught two fish,” but sadly, we caught zero fish. We got to see a lot of little fish swimming around though, which she loved. And when we got back to the house, she ran inside yelling to Grandmommie, “We had so much fun at the lake!” So even though we didn’t “caught two fish,” she still loved it and had so much fun. And watching her and Papa together was so very precious!
It was only 10am, but we were all sweating like crazy after being at the lake, so we immediately got in the swimming pool for a morning swim, and it was heavenly.
Emmie had eggs and sausage for lunch, and the rest of us had leftover baked spaghetti, and then after we read our new dino book, Grandmommie got Emmie to take a short little nap in Grandmommie’s bed.
Some of our family members on my Grandmother’s side also have a set of triplets, and they mailed us a box full of dress-up costumes today. With three poofy princess dresses, and three super hero costumes, Emerson chose this one to try on first, and run around in for a while.
They also sent these fun little string puzzle games, which Emmie and I spent some time doing together. They have these at school, so she already knew exactly what she was doing.
We went out for a second swim time in the afternoon, and we had so much fun. Oh and there were two of these cute swim cover-ups in the box of costumes, which was just adorable on her, obviously!
Even though it might appear that’s a scowl on her face, she was actually just super chill and relaxed, and letting us just float her around, like the tiny princess she really is. Mom and I were laughing at her so much actually!
Mom made fresh tuna salad and egg salad, and we had sandwiches for dinner. I obviously needed some of both, and then went back for another egg salad sandwich, because that stuff was on point tonight.
OK and look at this teeny tiny little girl from three years ago, when she was just barely a week old! UGH! She was so cute I could almost die! Seeing these photos gives me some serious baby fever! 😉
Emmie got really super tired right before dinner at Grammy’s house, and was ready to come home. She literally said, “I wanna go home and go straight to bed.” We were all shocked by that statement, coming from the girl who usually fights sleep. We think the real problem was the fact that she was wearing panties, and needed to go, but didn’t want to use the toilet. So we gave in and put a diaper on her for the ride home, and she was back to her usual self by the time we loaded up in the car.
Grammy had made her a grilled cheese for dinner, but she didn’t want to eat it, just because she wanted to go home. So Grammy packed it up for us to take home. Emerson decided in the car on the way home she wanted some, so she ate the first half before we even got out of their neighborhood! Then she had the second half at home, wearing last year’s Christmas jammies 🙂
Reading herself a book before bedtime… with her last bite of grilled cheese right there on her lap. Oh, and she purposefully chose her own mis-matched socks, which is one of her favorite things to do.
We had such a great day with the Grandparents today, and I’m so thankful we got to have breakfast, lunch & dinner with them, and spend so much time together! Jeff got back home just shortly after we did, so he was there for bedtime routine, and Emmie wanted him to rock her and do quiet cuddle times, since she hadn’t seen him all day. It’s very strange and quiet in the house tonight, and we have no idea what to watch on TV right now, but I’m looking forward to a quiet night on the couch with by hubby.
