Emerson’s 6th Birthday

Two beautiful baby girls for church this morning. One of which turned 6 today! And one of which was making weird faces, haha 🙂

Lemonade sales every Sunday before and after church, to raise funds for missions. It’s also a contest between the kids ministry and the youth ministry, so we’ll be buying a delicious $5 cup every Sunday, to help raise missions funds, and help the kids ministry win, so that the youth pastor gets a pie in the face 😉

We did another family meal for Emerson’s birthday after church today at Dreamland. It was way too hot in there, but we had a nice lunch, and enjoyed more family time together.

After lunch, it was of course nap time once we got home. I rocked Addie to sleep for a few minutes, but she was asleep super quickly. I fell asleep holding her for about 30 minutes, and once she stirred a little, and turned her head the opposite way and woke me up, I snapped this quick pic, and then carried her to her crib.

I told Emmie she just had to lay down quietly in her room with the sound machine on the entire time I rocked Addie. I told her she “didn’t have to go to sleep,” but that I would check on her when I laid Addie down, but wouldn’t you know, Emmie fell asleep, and accidentally took herself a 2.5-hour nap, and finally I had to take Addie in there to Emmie’s room, to wake her up!
One of her birthday presents from Grammy and Papa was a new Bible, with a really cool color-it-yourself front and back cover. I let her use my special Sharpie stash, and she got started for just a few minutes, while we sent Jeff and Addie to try to pick up our Walmart grocery order. (Spoiler – they were so super slammed, that he had to leave without the groceries.)

But then, it was time for birthday dinner and dessert with Nana and PopPop. We started with pizza at Gaines Street Pies, and then had crazy indulgent dessert at Sugar Rush. Back in May when I took Jeff there for his birthday, Emerson saw the photo of him with his crazy milkshake, and has been wanting us to take her there since then. She asked if we could go the other day, and of course I told her yes!

And on Sunday’s, their gigantic sundae’s are more than half off, at only $5! She got this mermaid one, that has cotton candy ice cream, and so much other sugary goodies, and it was huge!

I absolutely love this picture of the four of us! But I need someone to please tell me why my Emmie-girl is looking so grown-up today!? Six is just too big…

Jeff ended up having to go back for our groceries super late tonight at 9:30 after we got the girls in bed. So he just got back, and he’s working on some laundry now, and I need to put away the groceries. We’ve had a great weekend. Grateful for so much family time, and my sweet now-6-year-old!
