Emerson Got Her Ears Pierced!

We had a very slow, lazy morning today. Jeff woke up early with the girls, and let me sleep in until 9am. Then when I got up, he laid back down for a little nap. I made cinnamon sugar toast for the girls and I (just like Grandmommie makes, per Emerson’s request) for breakfast, and we cozied up on the couch for a bit after we ate. We woke up Jeff and we all got bundled up for the cold day, and finally got moving around 11:30am.

And we went straight to Claire’s, to get Emerson’s ears pierced! We gave her a few little packs of stud earrings to open on Christmas, as a clue to the bigger gift, of the actual piercing. She’s been asking to have this done for literally two years, and I kept putting her off until she got older, and I felt like she was more ready. But I did finally feel like the time had come, and I think we waited until a great age for her, because she was so excited, and so brave, and did such a great job through the whole process.

Emerson requested food court Chinese for lunch after her bravery with the piercing gun, so we ordered two big plates for all four of us to share, and every single bite was eaten by all these hungry girlies.

One more picture on our way out to the car. (You can still see some of the purple/blue ink from when they marked where to place the piercings.)

When we got home, we got Addison down for her nap time, and Jeff, Emmie and I sat down to rest for a few minutes in the living room, and turned on a home makeover show to watch. But surprisingly, I accidentally fell asleep for two hours, instead of washing dishes and doing chores. Oopsies! So when I woke up, I ran to Walmart to pickup our grocery order really quickly.

Then once we got the groceries put away, I very quickly prepared a “chicken cobbler” and got it in the oven for dinner. Then, we did take some time to do some chores around the house. Jeff worked on laundry, I worked on dishes, and Emerson tidied up the living room. We also got the girls in the bath while this was in the oven, and then we finally ate dinner at almost 8pm, because it took longer to bake than I expected.

But it turned out absolutely delicious. When I was making my grocery list and meal plan, I specifically wanted a meal tonight that would be warm and comforting, but also require no real cooking and only use one dish. This checked all of those boxes, and also tasted super yummy!

Emmie was just looking so beautiful and so grown up and not like my tiny baby anymore. Ugh, I just love her so much though!!

And this tiny baby goofball, who picked out this sleeping eye mask while we were at Claire’s today, just snug as a bug in her little bed, falling asleep with Daddy sitting on the floor next to her.

OK, every time I think we’re getting close to the end of the final movie of “Lord of the Rings,” I find out there’s still like hours left. But maybe tonight’s finally the night and we might make it to the end. Who knows though, we might still be trying to finish this thing this time next week 🤣
