Double Duty

This post is doing double-duty tonight, for Friday & Saturday…

FRIDAY

Friday was Gilchrist spirit day for Emmie, so we decided it was Growing Room spirit day for Addie too. (Addie was still covered in stamps from where she did that to herself the day before at school.)

We spent Friday night at one more fall festival, at Jeff’s parents’ church. They had a few bounce houses, and a few cars for trunk or treat, and a hayride, plus hot dogs & chips and a chili cook off for dinner.

We had so much fun at the festival, that by the time we made it home and got all snuggly on the couch, I fell asleep right there on the couch in the middle of the girls, and they fell asleep too. We all stayed there sleeping until like 10:30, and then finally woke up and just went straight to bed.

SATURDAY

We spent the first half of the morning being lazy and eating breakfast, and then spent the second half of the morning doing chores. Jeff and Emmie cleaned the living room, I washed dishes, and then Emmie swiffered the kitchen and the hallway.

Addie didn’t really do much to help, but she was still pretty cute.

The girls did little tiny Gabby’s Dollhouse puzzle together…

While I made this random little noodle dish from Aldi. It was just something I saw the last time we shopped there and thought it looked interesting and wanted to try it. I dished it up into a few small bowls for the girls, and a larger bowl for myself for our lunch. (Jeff had run out to deal with car stuff, so he wasn’t home for lunch.)

All you had to do was boil the package and it’s seasonings for about 11 minutes, then it said to top it with butter and cheese, so obviously I did that. The girls said they didn’t like it, but Addie actually ate at least half of hers. I on the other hand loved it! It tasted like French onion soup noodles, and French onion soup is one of my favorite things. I will definitely buy this again if they still have it the next time I got to Aldi. It was so cheap, and really easy to make, and perfect for a quick, light lunch at home on a Saturday.

The girls ended up eating PB&J for lunch instead.

I had to fight with Addie for a bit to get her down for a nap, but it wasn’t as bad as last weekend. While I was doing that, I told Emmie she wasn’t allowed to have screen time but wanted her to have some quiet reading time. So then I came out and found her all set up with blankets and pillows surrounded by all the books she read during that 25 minutes.

Then her and I watched a cheesy little Hallmark Christmas music together, which was honestly not that great, but Emmie liked it and always loves feeling like a big girl watching these “big girl” movies with Mommy.

Surprisingly, I didn’t fall asleep watching the movie, although I definitely came close quite a few times. Jeff picked up our Walmart grocery pickup for us on his way home, and the girls both helped get everything put away. I made myself a late-afternoon iced coffee, and then we went over to my aunt & uncle’s house for a family pizza night.

My cousin Aaron, and his wife Mandy and son Asher, were in town this weekend from Missouri, so we all got together for pizza and salad to visit with them while they were here. Amazingly, we got a picture of all our giant family all looking at the camera, including all 6 waking kids, with 1 sleeping baby!

The girls took a quick bath when we got home, and then we did bedtime. Emmie was super sleepy and fell asleep so fast in her bed. Addie on the other hand, has been wide awake watching videos with Daddy for over an hour now, refusing to fall asleep or settle down. So now we gotta get down to business with her and get her to sleep!
