Dinner Date

(Post for Friday, 1/30/2026.)

After getting everyone all dressed and ready, I helped the girls get out to the car with Daddy for school. Had to get extra loves and hugs though, because the girls were having a sleepover and I wouldn’t see them for a day!

They were tired of wearing their big giant poofy coats this week though, but they’re still loving their scarves from Grandmommie!

Beautiful sunrise on my way into work.

After work (it was a very chaotic day for both Jeff and I), we met back up at home. Grammy had picked up both girls from school for their sleepover, so that Jeff and I could go out on a dinner date to celebrate my birthday!

We did things our new favorite way, with a “progressive dinner” situation. We started at Harry’s (which is our favorite and constant go-to) for an appetizer. We chose grouper fingers this time, and they were really good. They also gave us bread, with that delicious butter, and I couldn’t pass it up. Plus, I had a free birthday dessert email, and even though it specifically states “free key lime pie,” we had an excellent waiter who let us choose from any of the desserts. So I picked our favorite oreo beignets, and good grief those things are sooo sweet, and so yummy.

We sat at the table just hanging out and chatting for a while, so we made sure to leave a good tip, especially since we didn’t order entrees. We were actually pretty full already by the time we ate all the bread, fish & oreos, but we still headed down the parkway to Georgio’s. We had a date night at their old location by TJ Maxx way back in like 2012, but hadn’t been back since. I randomly remembered yesterday that they have roasted garlic stuffed filet mignon, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So we decided to go and share one meal since we definitely weren’t hungry enough to each get our own.

It came with soup or salad, and I chose the avglomeno soup, since that’s something I’ve always wanted to try, and it was really good. It’s lemony with chicken and orzo and kind of creamy, and very good. But I still only ate half so I didn’t get too full off the soup. I also only ate one bite of the bread.

And then of course the main event was the roasted garlic stuff filet mignon to share. It came with a few veggies, and a wedge of scalloped potatoes. The waitress brought us an extra plate, and we split everything, and it was all sooo good. We both love garlic, but I really love garlic, and this was just perfect for me. But we were definitely overstuffed by the time we finished, and felt like we needed to be rolled out of there.

It was exactly 9pm when we left, right as they were closing. We took the rolls to-go, and headed back home. I got all cozy in the living room recliner, laying on the heating pad with my favorite blanket, and we started watching some tv together. But of course it was late and I was so full, that I only last about 15 minutes before I was sound asleep. I was able to turn off all my morning alarms and anticipate sleeping in. I only made it to 8am though, and then got up and wrote this post while watching Gilmore Girls 🙂
