We have only three days of work and school this week, and then a four-day holiday weekend starting Thursday! We did make it out of the house early this morning to go by Dunkin Donuts to get some donuts and some gift cards for Emmie’s teachers’ Christmas gifts, and still made it to school early too.
We waited for the littlest girls to get there, and everyone got their morning hugs. Emmie and Ellie were getting each other and growling, and it was so cute.
I am 18 weeks pregnant today, and Baby is now the size of a bell pepper, at only 5 inches long and weighing only 6 ounces!
When I got to work today, I found a jar of homemade salsa my friend Heather gave me for my Christmas present! Can’t wait to try this out!
Emmie had a good day at school, had a good nap, and made a cute Christmas art collage.
For lunch, I met Megan and Papa at Chicken Salad Chick, for our annual sometime-around-Christmas-CSC-get-together. We’ve done this for the past few years around this time every year, and I’m glad we were able to meet-up, even with all the covid craziness, and Meg still working from home. It was so nice to be together!
I actually cooked dinner tonight (which is actually pretty rare these days), and although it was okay, it wasn’t spectacular. It was the second time I’d made a recipe for pork & mushroom rice bowls, and even with some adjustments to make it more to our liking, it still just didn’t wow us, and so I won’t be making it again… Emmie didn’t seem to mind it though, and loved eating out of her big girl bowl with her big girl fork.
Little Miss Cool Chick played in her room for a long time after dinner, and Daddy and I took turns doing a few chores, and playing with her.
We got her room all cleaned up, and she chose some clean jammies, and then she chose which book she wanted to read for bedtime.
She’s just about outgrown the peachy jammies, but I love that tiny, soft, squishy belly peeking out of her too-short shirt.
She was a little clingy when it came time for lullabies, so she needed to snuggle Daddy for one song, then snuggle me for one song (rather than just laying in bed & holding my hand, which is how we’ve done it for the past few months), but then she laid in her bed for Jesus Loves Me. Then she only called us back into her room a couple of times for some bogus made-up reasons that she needed us (that her blanket wasn’t on her feet & her neck felt funny), and then she finally quieted down.
I got ALLLL the dishes washed up after dinner, and cleaned the stove & counter, and then Jeff cleaned out the fridge of old leftovers and random stuff and took out the trash. So with those chores taken care of, we can just relax now!
