Crayons & Coloring

My sweet, little happy bestie, with her beautiful little blonde curls!

In the car this morning, she was eating some dry cereal from a baggie. Just a couple of minutes after we left home, she held it out and said, “Zip it up, Mommy!” I asked her was she done already? And she was like, “Yep, I”ll get a muffin at school!” She’s so funny!

We almost forgot to put her little hair clip in today, but it was attached to my keys, so I clipped it in while her teacher held her, and of course she looked so adorable I needed to snap another quick photo! (It actually has tiny pink cupcakes on it, but you can’t see them in the photo.)

We had another ladies’ lunch today, with myself, my sister Megan, Mama & Aunt Suzanne. Aunt Suzanne and I (her and I work in the same building/State Department) picked up Megan from her office a couple blocks away, and met Mama for lunch at Taco Republik. Mama had gotten there early to order for us, so we just got to sit right down at our table! I get the same exact Chicken Southwest Quesadillas literally every time I eat there, and they are sooo good. Plus a side of chipotle aioli. Yum!

Mama & Megan wanted coffee, so we made a quick pit-stop at Red Eye for them to grab some drinks.

This tree was so beautiful!

And Mama & Meg were practically coordinated FSU twinsies, in their (very similar) garnet & gold dresses, black tights & black flats. So cute!

And now, as we’re smack in the middle of flu & cold season, a quick “rant” and throwback post… Two years ago, in November 2017, Emerson was hospitalized for four days with RSV, when she was just four months old. It was scary, and emotional, and exhausting, and my poor girl was sick for about three months total. The bottom line, while I’m here on my soap box, if you’re sick, or don’t feel well, or even just sneeze, please just don’t touch the baby. (This goes for my own child, and my triplet nieces, and any other babies you know too.) Little ones are so super susceptible to germs and illness, and it’s hard for their tiny bodies to fight it. Wash your hands frequently, keep sanitizer handy for those other times, but mostly just keep your germs to yourself. Thank you very much.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming… Emerson had a good day at school today, and made herself a Thanksgiving place mat.

I made the easiest dinner tonight – pasta with Pioneer Woman sauce, frozen (microwaved) meatballs, and Caesar salad. So easy, so yummy! And dinner was ready in about 20 minutes.

Emerson requested butter to dip her meatballs in, and what the heck why not? She’s still in like, the 3rd percentile for weight, so it aint gonna hurt her! And she did eat five meatballs, so she ate really well!

Still loving this kitty cat water bottle.

And she’s always so helpful, cleaning up her tray when she finishes eating!

She had one candy snack after dinner (a mini Baby Ruth that I had to hold for her, so she could take small bites), and thought drinking Mommy’s water was better than her own.

She colored by Bible page for just a bit, before heading off to the bath tub. She saw her bath crayons up on the counter (which were kind of hidden and we hadn’t used them in a while), and wanted them for bath time tonight. She even remembered on her own that Ms. Q got them for her!

And then she specifically requested to wear her yellow nightgown. If you weren’t here around a year ago (wow, just looked it up and it was one year ago tomorrow actually!), this is now a 28-year-old nightshirt that belonged to my cousin Aaron when he was a baby! Emerson borrowed it a year ago, and we still have it, and she loves it so much.

She was really sweet for bedtime, and she went down with just our usual routine with no issues or whining or even any stall tactics tonight.

I got allll of the dishes washed tonight from the last few days, and so now it’s time to rest a little bit. I started working on this coloring sheet last night, so I’m going to finish it up real quick while we watch something on tv. This is from the women’s Bible study I went to last month, and if we turn it in when we go on Thursday, we get a prize. So of course I loved that idea! (Since it’s currently fall, I colored my tree with fall colors too.)

So now it’s time for hot tea, coloring, and tv. Would you expect anything different?!
