I had to be at church early this morning for praise team rehearsal, so Jeff and Emmie dropped me off, and then met my parents for breakfast at the Bagel Market. Looks like Emmie did whatever she wanted, and just sat right on the top of the table!
After church, Emerson had a TON of energy, and was just so excited about life. We walked/ran/crawled up and down the pews about 50 times before leaving!
Then it was pouring outside, so Jeff was helping people get to their cars with a giant umbrella, and even going to get a few cars for the older ladies, to drive up under the breezeway for them. So Emmie and I just patiently waited, watching all the rain and all the people.
We grabbed Arby’s on the way home (didn’t want to get in & out in the rain again) and then changed clothes and got Emmie down for her nap. She slept with her slippers on today.
Then I got dinner started, by making the marinade for Indian Butter Chicken. I ordered ginger root in my Walmart order the other day, and even though I only requested .25 pounds, they gave me all this! Which was wayyyy more than I needed. I only needed 1 tbsp of grated ginger, so I still have a TON left. Anyone want/need some? I’ll give it away to you!
After getting the chicken marinating in the fridge, I finished my book, then took a quick nap. This was really fun, cute book about culture, family, dealing with loss, and delicious food! Natalie moves back home to Chinatown in San Francisco after the death of her mother, with ambitions to re-open her grandmother’s long-closed restaurant. There’s some fun, magical realism along the way, plus a little love interest on the side. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and it made me crave Chinese food, so we ordered take-out (last night) š Plus, I love this cover! āāāā (4 out of 5 stars) Book #75 for 2019.
After nap time, Emmie always has snack time. She got inventive today, and carried her stool over to the hitch today, to grab her own snack, instead of waiting on Mommy or Daddy! Smart cookie! And of course she indeed wanted cookies, on the couch, so that’s what she got!
Jeff and I played with her while we also worked on some laundry, plus did some more tidying and vacuuming. And we felt like we got a lot done!
This weirdo put on some extra shorts over her pants, while Jeff was folding clothes.
And then while I was working on putting away & hanging up all of her clean clothes, she was making a big ole mess in her room!
But then she redeemed herself by helping Swiffer the kitchen.
This is now about the fourth-ish time I’ve made this Indian Butter Chicken, and once again it came out perfectly. It’s seriously so, so good!
Emerson took some bicycle laps while we finished eating, and then decided she wanted to do “puh-doh,” so she got back up in her seat to play.
After getting cleaned up, we put on her cupcake jammies (although she still can’t quite say the word, tonight she was calling them “cupcapes”), and then she once again requested “cookies on the couch, mommy!” So I told her she could have two cookies, and I made her repeat me for emphasis, and she did good with just eating two cookies.
We read two books, and look how sweet during prayers! š
She was really easy to get to sleep again tonight (PTL! šš¼), and it only took about eight minutes of lullabies before I laid her down for the night. Then I washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen, and made a couple cups of hot tea for us. I’m still suffering through all this weird, quasi sickness, with slightly stuffy nose amd scratchy throat. And good grief I’m just tired of it.
Now it’s time for rest and a movie (or at least part of one until I fall asleep on the couch), and I’m thinking another “early” bedtime.
