Cookie Butter Cold Brew

After spending roughly 14 hours together today, we have lots of photos, so let’s get into it! Egg sammies for breakfast, as always, for me and the girls. (Jeff was running internet cable all day for one of his side jobs, that’s moving buildings.)

Then we had a lazy morning, just hanging out, with the girls continuously snacking, and playing, and watching movies together.

Eventually it was time for a slightly early lunch, since both girls were a little cranky and sleepy. After they both ate some leftover “stick of butter rice,” I got Addie to sleep in her crib.

Then Emmie and I spent about 20 minutes in the backyard sunshine, enjoying the perfect weather. She stuck her arm out the back door and said, “It feels good outside, I kinda wanna go out in it.” So she went out by herself first, and came back to tell me, “It feels good, I like the feel of the warm bits. It feels good on my feet in the grass.”

After I got Emerson to sleep for her nap, I ate some lunch myself, washed up a load of dishes, and then worked on my puzzle for a little while. And I also watched some “Survivor.”

Then once both girls finally work up (about 2 hours for Emmie and 3 hours for Addie), I got them dressed and we headed out. I needed a little afternoon pick-me-up, so I grabbed the new cookie butter cold brew from Dunkin, and it was delicious.

Then we went to the library, where we had the whole kids area to ourselves, and barely even saw anyone in the whole rest of the place. It was deserted, but that meant we could just let loose!

Then we went back to our neighborhood to play more in the gorgeous weather, at the park half a mile from our house. We had a nice little walk down the boardwalk by the lake, but the water is wayyyy low right now.

Unfortunately there were about 6 big kids (plus four other littler kids) running wild all over the playground equipment, so Emmie didn’t get to do much, but she was able to play a little bit. I promised we could come back again soon though, since we still have 4 more days of “weekend” left.

I got some Aldi frozen stuffed shells going in my tiny air-fryer-toaster-oven when we got home, and then we went back into the backyard to play some more. Instead of running around though, Emmie just wanted to bring out a bunch of art supplies and toys.

Jeff had gotten home while we were out and about, and although he was exhausted and sore from all the physical work he did today, he was glad to see his girls, and they were glad to see him!

Then it was time for dinner, which was super yummy, and very similar to the manicotti we’ve gotten from Aldi before as well.

The girls went wild in the bathtub tonight, splashing water everywhere and pouring water out on the bathmat. But once they got out and dried off, and into fresh jammies, they smelled so good and looked so adorable.

When it was time for Emerson’s bedtime book, I just blindly pulled a book from the stack of Little Free Library books we got a few weeks back on our day off together. So it was a perfect coincidence that we read about the Magic School Bus & the First Thanksgiving!

Addie Pie put up a bit of a fight tonight, and I had to wrestle her into finally calming down and falling asleep, about an hour past her usual bedtime. Emmie-cille also needed some extra work to get to sleep, but Jeff was able to get her calmed down and asleep eventually as well.

I had a good day with my girls, but good grief they wore me out! Ready to sit back and put my feet up and rest now, before another chaotic day tomorrow!
