Church in the Parking Lot

Emmie was up before the sun, as usual, so Jeff got up with her while I got showered and dressed for church. I was ready early, so I got her a bowl of cereal, and made myself breakfast too.

In high school, I saw a little recipe hack in a magazine for making an at-home McMuffin, and I got obsessed with it. I did it all the time back then, And every now and then as a grown-up, I’ll remember it and make it again. All you do is toast an English muffin, then crack an egg directly on the bottom half, microwave for 1 minute. Add cheese on top of the egg, then put the “lid” on, and let it melt, and ta-da! Super easy, very yummy.

There were some leftover coffee in the pot yesterday after we had breakfast, so I went ahead and made up a mason jar how I would regularly make my cup, and put it in the fridge to have as cold coffee this morning, and it was super delicious.

I had to be at church at 8:00 a.m. for praise team rehearsal, for church in the parking lot! We had a big Thanksgiving service today, with everything set up outside, and everyone brought their own chairs. It was super misty and foggy first thing this morning, but the sun came out by the time the end of the service was over, and it was a beautiful day! It was also a beautiful service, with lots of great things happening. Today was also the last Sunday for our current pastor, who has been called to a new church in Kentucky. We’ll miss him and his wife, but I know great things are in store for our church in the coming days and years!

My friend Amanda and I were wearing exact opposite outfits today, I had a black top and denim jeans, and she was the reverse. We even had one black and one brown purse, criss-crossed in opposite directions, she has darker hair and I have lighter hair. It was all just too funny!

We also got to see lots of friends that we haven’t seen in months, with all the crazy pandemic stuff happening. It was great to see so many of our members at church this morning, and great to sing a few songs with our choir, and great to see 356 Operation Christmas Child boxes turned in, and amazing to see a sweet boy with Downs Syndrome get baptized, and amazing to see a new believer join our church today!

Late last night, we decided we were craving Chinese food for lunch today, so I hopped on Google, and put it in an online order from Tan’s Asian Cafe, to pick up right at noon today. And it worked out perfectly to do it that way, and it was ready and waiting and delicious when we got it home. I’m ate less than half of my food though before I got full, so I’ll get to eat a whole another meal off of mine! Just trying to do enough, during the first half of my pregnancy, I tend to lose some appetite, and eat less than usual, and that’s certainly happening this time again too.

Emerson napped in her bed, and I took a nap on the couch, and then once she woke up, we headed out for a fourth birthday party for one of Jeff’s coworkers daughters. I didn’t know anyone there and I felt a little bit awkward, but Emerson had the time of her life in the giant bounce house!

We left her party a little before 5:00 p.m., and decided to head to Max’s for an early dinner. It’s the newest place in town serving Philly cheese steaks, and I’d been dying to give it a try.

I got the cheese steak version with the provolone cheese instead of the cheese whiz, we got these fries to share, and it won’t order of the soft pretzel sticks to share. I couldn’t even finish my sandwich, ate half of a pretzel, and three fries before I was full, but it was yummy!

They didn’t really have anything there for Emmie though, so we had stopped at Whataburger before hand to grab her a kids meal, and she happily ate her burger while watching videos on Jeff’s phone.

After we got home, it was just barely 6:00 p.m., but Emerson requested we cuddle in bed, and I was exhausted from a busy day, so I very quickly agreed. We turned on some Blippi videos and cuddled in bed for almost an hour! And we got her in the bathtub to get cleaned up and ready for bed. After getting her dressed and hair brushed and we took our vitamins together, she wanted lotion rubbed on her feet, so I ended up giving her a little foot massage while she laid in her floor. She was just so chill and soaking it up, and she was cracking me up.

She’s had kind of a rough night falling asleep, and has called us back in there five or six times over the last hour or so, for various reasons, like not being able to get her blanket, or not being able to feel her arm after it fell asleep, and needing some super cold ice water. It’s just after 9:00 p.m. now, so hopefully she will settle down and finally fall asleep soon.
