Church, Car Wash & Chores

I had another super early wake-up call to get to church by 7:50am today, but I made sure to give myself plenty of time to not only get myself a large coffee (that I actually got for free using the DD app!), but also I finished my make-up this time 😉 I got to see my good friend Abby at church this morning, and chat with her for a bit between services. I also got to see her sweet new 5-month-old baby girl in-person for the first time, and I could have just squeezed her so much, if not for this silly virus and the social-distancing! But it was still good to see them in the flesh!

I was at church all morning singing for the two worship services, and Jeff and Emmie were doing their daddy-daughter stuff, like picking up the Walmart grocery order, and making silly faces together.

Jeff got Emmie down for her nap a little bit before I got home, and I grabbed lunch for us on the way. Although she didn’t go pee in the potty all morning, he put her down for her nap in her panties. We thought she might pee in her sleep shortly after falling asleep, which would most likely wake her up, and most likely she wouldn’t want to go back to sleep. But somehow she actually napped for two hours, which was a great nap for her. She had in fact peed in her pants in her bed, but she miraculously slept through it!

After she woke up, we did some chores and laundry and cleaning in her room, while she busted out some more of her birthday gifts. This was a little e-drawing pad that we got her, and it’s actually super cool! It was only about $15 from Amazon, and it’s really neat and super easy for her to use. So she drew monsters and trees (that’s what she told me she drew at least) while I folded her clean clothes.

One of Jeff’s tasks this morning while I was at church, was to get the chicken in the Crock-Pot for chicken tacos. So after cleaning up Emmie’s room, I cooked up some yellow rice and black beans, and then we took a meal to some our Sunday school friends who had their second baby three weeks ago. We wore our masks and only stayed for a few minutes, but it was good to see them in real life for the first time since February!

Emerson randomly wanted to go through a car wash today, which sounded like a good idea for my messy, dirty car. I took her out of her car seat and let her sit with me, and it was practically Disney World for that girl!

I had kind of planned to make enough crockpot chicken for us to keep half tonight for our meal as well, but it ended up not being as much as I planned, so we didn’t keep any. We made a huge sacrifice by eating out for dinner instead 😉 We tried a new local place over on our side of town, and it turned out to be super good! I’m kinda of on an un-official (or maybe tonight I made it official) to find the best al pastor street tacos in town, and these tonight might have moved to the top of the list! They were soooo good!

We ended up at a table with the characters from “Coco” on it, which was perfect and Emerson loved it! We also ended up letting her watch some of the movie on Jeff’s phone while we waited for our food. (She told us on the way there that she didn’t want tacos, she wanted chicken strips, so we went through a drive-thru for her.)

Midway through the meal, she leaned over and held one of my hands, and put her other arm around my face like this, and just stood there singing and patting my face and telling me she loved me. We stayed like this for at least one whole minute, and it absolutely melted my heart.

So after wetting her bed during nap time, she didn’t go pee the rest of the afternoon. I took her to the bathroom at the restaurant because I could tell she needed to go and I didn’t want her to have an accident in the booth, but she wouldn’t go. So she was dancing around and couldn’t stand still in her room at home, so I forced her back to the bathroom. I made her sit there for about 10 minutes, and she was mad at me about it. We talked and I asked her why she couldn’t go, and she tried to convince me she would go later, but I wasn’t having any of that, so I made her stay there.

She started getting more & more upset, and I knew she couldn’t hold it much longer, and when she started really freaking out and crying I knew it was only a matter of time. And within like 5 more seconds, she started peeing!! She was so upset and cried so hard, she just couldn’t help but to finally go. Jeff scooped her up and loved her, and we both told her how proud of her we were. She calmed down pretty quickly, put her nightgown and panties on, and then she was good to go!

We did some more clean-up work in her bedroom after the potty trip, and found my old Little Mermaid apron from when I was about her age! This one was always at my Grandparents house, and I wore it when I helped her cook, because Grandmommie was always wearing an apron in the kitchen, and I just had to be like her too! I’m so glad it was saved, because now Emmie loves it too!

My “big” project in her room is to pack away some old, random, small stuff, and reorganize her things. She currently has two dressers in her room, but we want to consolidate all her current clothes into just this one, and move the tall one out of her room, to make space for her kitchen that Grammy and Papa gave her for her birthday. So I got a lot done tonight, but I’ve got a lot more to do! The drawers in this dresser have/had a bunch of random stuff like extra blankets, unopened packs of swaddles, bibs & burp cloths, and all manner of things we don’t need right now. So I packed up some for storage, and started a box for goodwill, and a box to hand down to the triplets. I already relocated and filled up her shorts/pants drawer, and still have two large empty drawers for more clothes. Maybe I’ll finish it all up in a few more nights…

She needed a snack before bedtime, obviously, so she wore her strawberry nightgown, and ate a small piece of a strawberry Pop-Tart while I read her a Pinkalicious book. She was super sweet and precious.

After only one successful at-home potty trip, we knew overnight would be too much, so we did end up putting a pull-up on her for bedtime, because we just knew she wouldn’t be able to make it all night long. She was a sweet girl though, and bedtime went smoothly.

We had a Zoom call with our Sunday school class at 8pm tonight, and did our prayer time and lesson together. And once again, it was just so good to see each other and hear the voices, even through the phone! I miss meeting in person, but I’m glad we were able to do this tonight.

Last night, Jeff and I ended up watching the movie “The Art of Racing in the Rain.” I read the book about 10 years ago so I thought I knew what to expect. I knew it would be emotional, but you guys! I absolutely sobbed for the last 30-60 minutes of the movie! I’m talking heaving breaths, chest pains, endless tears, snotty nose, the whole nine yards. But it was like, a really good movie. So I’d you’re ever just like, in need of a good cry (you know what I’m talking about), that’s the movie for you.

We’re in need of something much lighter tonight though, because I’m not ready for another emotional journey like that again tonight!
