Christmas Day 2022

I “gave myself the night off” last night, after a long, busy, fun-filled day, so this post is for Christmas Day, yesterday. The girls actually slept until about 7am, so luckily we weren’t up super early. And then we had a sweet morning (once we got the boys awake too), with our little 6-fam at home.

Before opening gifts, I put together a delicious breakfast casserole to bake while we opened. So then after opening all the gifts, we ate the breakfast casserole, that was indeed delicious, with some biscuits, peaches, and avocado for me.

Then we had a sweet Christmas morning church service, with a story time for the kids, and candlelight (real for adults, cool LED’s for the kids) to close out the end of the service.

Then it was over the river and through the woods, to Grammy’s house we went! We took a couple of giant whole-family photos, then it was time for lunch. Mama, Papa, Grandmommie, Uncle Keith & Aunt Suzanne took care of everything, and put together an amazing grazing/charcuterie table, with all of our favorite snacks and things.

Then it was pure chaos and fun for an hour or so, while we all opened up way too many presents from everyone.

Jeff got Addison to sleep by holding her the whole time, the triplets took naps too, but Emerson stayed awake, and got to feed the deer for their late-afternoon feeding.

Then we got all the girls bundled up, and went outside for some outdoor activities. Santa brought the triplets their first bicycles, so we tried really hard to give them their first lesson, but I’m not too sure how it went, because there were lots of tears by the time we finally put the bikes away.

We had some of the lunch leftovers for dinner (plus some hot dogs for some picky girls), and then the girls went a little wild putting on dress-up clothes and putting on a show for us in the living room, with lots of singing and dancing and ruckus. We may have started getting a little delirious at this point, but there was certainly a lot of goofing and laughing, before we all finally parted ways.

We had a lot of stuff to unload once we got home, but the boys helped us, so we got it all done quickly, and just kinda dumped everything in piles in the dining room. Then both girls actually did well with bedtime, and we got them down just slightly later than usual. But I was certainly worn out mentally and physically, so I just put on some new warm pj’s, and watched “Survivor” in bed, and let myself enjoy some quiet time, with chocolate chip cookies 😉
