Emerson requested a McGriddle for breakfast, and since I had some food, but not enough to make a full breakfast meal, we gladly agreed and headed to McDonald’s for breakfast. The plan was to also go to Trader Joe’s afterwards, but we got a late start, and it was 10am by the time we got there, with a line all the way to TJ Maxx, so we skipped it and just went back home.
Back at home, I actually didn’t take any photos for a couple of hours, while we worked hard around the house, doing ALL the chores – washing & drying a few loads of laundry, folding & putting away a load of Emmie’s clothes, cleaning the living room & kitchen, washing dishes, vacuuming the living room, and cleaning Emmie’s room. And since my girl was the best little helper with all the chores, after ate a PB&J for lunch, she had her snowman hot chocolate for a treat. (She was wearing her headphones while Daddy was vacuuming.)
She only drank about 5 gulps of it and decided she was full, but it was still super cute, and then I helped her drink some of it too 🙂
She napped for about two hours today, and I napped for about half of that myself. I sent Jeff out to pick up our Walmart grocery order this afternoon, and then after we got all the cold stuff put away (and left all the other stuff out on the counter), we went over to Nana & PopPop’s house.
I know this photo is super blurry, but she was being super cute cooking in the kitchen (she made me a salad with an orange, strawberry, potato chip, fried egg, and a pickle), and making everything wearing her oven mitt so she wouldn’t get burned. And some too-big pink Disney slippers.
We ordered a couple of pizzas for dinner, and this girl ate an entire piece of Papa John’s cheese pizza. And wore a little bit of the sauce on her cheek 😉
While Jeff & Dave ran to get the pizza, she was singing in her microphone for Nana and I. So she had to put on another little concert when they got back, after we finished dinner. Nana grabbed her stool so she could stand on it like when Mommy sings on the stage at church, and she belted out a couple of Christmas songs (Jingle Bells & We Wish You A Merry Christmas), plus two extremely sweet verses of Jesus Loves Me.
All of Nana’s presents were wrapped and waiting under the tree, and it was killing Emerson to look at them and not open them. So Nana gave in and let her open one of the small ones, and Emmie was very excited to find this Pocahontas doll!
So then when we got home, of course we had to read the Pocahontas story in her Princess storybook for bedtime.
She did really good at bedtime, and things went nice and smooth, so that was very nice for a change. Jeff set up the electric kettle while I finished getting Emmie in bed, then I threw in the tea bags and fixed it all up once I got her down. (And yes, the not-cold groceries are still just sitting on the counter for now…) I’m going to go to bed at a good time tonight, and take another Claritin, and hope that plenty of rest will help me feel better.
I was actually supposed to sing on the praise team at church tomorrow, but I already texted our music minister today to tell him I can’t make it (with this crazy scratchy throat), but I’ll miss not being there. I’m going to still send Jeff and Emmie to church though, so I can stay home alone and get some rest in a very quiet house for a few hours.
