Cheeseburgers & Buffalo

I absolutely love this little girl in a casual cotton dress. (Maybe because it’s my favorite kind of dress for me too?) I just think she looks so cute and stylish and casual, all at the same time!

So for the past few mornings, when we walked in, she just automatically announced “no muffins…” without even looking over there, to see if there were or not. So I always just agreed with her like, “right, no muffins.” But today, she saw a parent over there getting one, so she slowed down, and looked over there, and thought about it for a few seconds, and then yelled, “Muffins!” So she got a muffin.

On a random book related note, I found an awesome little set of short stories today that I’m really excited about. The collection is called “Forward,” and was curated by Blake Crouch (author of “Dark Matter” & “Recursion,” which I just got from the library the other day), written by six different popular current authors (e.g. Veronica Roth {Divergent} & Andy Weir {The Martian}), and also narrated by six popular actors (including David Harbour AKA Chief Hopper from Stranger Things).

ANDDD… all of the short stories & audible narrations are available for FREE for Amazon Prime members! You can just download each “book,” and add each narration straight to your Audible account. (Insider “tip” – I have an Audible account, just for the free Prime content, but I do not pay the monthly fee.) This was all created exclusively as Amazon original content actually.

I did a tandem read/listen of the first short story (“Ark” by Veronica Roth, read by Evan Rachel Wood from Westworld), and it was really interesting. So if you’re into sci-fi, and/or dystopian stuff, you should absolutely go check out this new collection! (Or even if you don’t normally read sci-fi, maybe check it out anyways, since it’s free. Why not!?) I’m going to try to read/listen to one a day, since they’re all relatively short (the longest is only like 77 pages). So let me know if you get them too! If you can’t tell, I’m slightly excited about this new format, which I think is super cool.

Lunch today was leftovers of last night’s salad & pizza, and more reading of my same library book. (I’m nearing the end, and I’m just ready to finish already…)

We only got one photo of Emmie at school today, but she looks so happy! After picking her up, I asked what she did at school, and she said “payed with Legos! I build!”

Our usual Wednesday night family dinner got a little crazy today, with all the people doing all sorts of things. So it ended up being only my little 3-fam eating together. Jeff’s work buddy had told him about a special deal at Ted’s for National Cheeseburger Day (a cheeseburger and fries for only $6!), so we decided to go for it! I picked up Emmie from school, and we went straight there to get a table, and place our order. Then Jeff met us there a little bit later, and we enjoyed delicious, fancy cheeseburgers, for less than half their normal price! This was honestly the best burger I’ve had in a long time. The beef was so good, I got it with pepperjack cheese, and even the bun was delicious! Yum! (She was obsessed with checking out the giant “buffawo” head on the wall.)

Then we headed up to church like normal (and made it on time, even with our longer-than-usual dinner!), for worship choir rehearsal (for me) and men’s Bible study (for Jeff), followed by our first “regular” rehearsal for SCT (for both of us). (Choir is usually 6:10-7:30; but we with SCT underway, we will stop worship choir at 7pm, and have SCT rehearsal from 7:00-7:45 now.) And my Mama actually stopped packing to move long enough to come to church for SCT rehearsal, and since we’re both alto’s, we got to sit together, and sing together, for a little while tonight.

Since we will be in choir 15 minutes later for the next few months, we will now get home just that much later on Wednesday night’s. It’s not a huge deal for the parents, but I’m hoping it doesn’t effect the toddler too much! (So, say a prayer for that, if you will…) As soon as we made it home tonight, we did jammies (and snacks & water), followed by books and night-night prayers. She gave hugs & kisses all around, and then Mommy held her and sang her lullabies, and she was out!

We started watching Mary Poppins Returns last night (the 2018 movie, with Emily Blunt), and as predicted, I fell asleep about halfway through. But it was really cute and I was liking it a lot! So we’re settling in to finish that now, and I’m hoping I can make it to the end tonight!
