I was back on double drop-off duty this morning with both girlies. Emmie was trying to help Addie with her backpack, but Addie said, “No Emmie, I do it myself!”
And she was still a little salty about the backpack thing for sister pics. 🤣
Jeff had to take Pennie back to the shelter today 🙁 Oh wait, but not like that! I didn’t mean for it to sound like we returned her… Anyways, they were so over-crowded while she was there, they didn’t have time to spay her before we adopted her. So Jeff dropped her off there this morning for surgery. Emmie was so worried about her not only for the surgery part, but also worried Pennie would be sad being back at the shelter. So we had to assure her that she’d be fine, and we’d pick her up as soon as we could.
But first, they had to drop off my laptop to my office, because I forgot it home when I was gathering up all the other hoopla. So as I stood on the curb waiting, I saw them roll up with Pennie hanging her head out the window, with those big ole ears poking up, it made me laugh out loud! So after a quick scratch on her cute head, I grabbed my laptop, and then they headed off to the shelter.
When I dropped off Emmie at summer camp, they told me they weren’t actually providing hot lunch like usual (I didn’t even realize last week that our weekly payment had been less, since it didn’t include lunch). So I had to run out on my lunch break to pick up something to take to Emmie. I figured I’d get something for myself too, and I decided to also stay there and eat with her. She was so happy to have me there with her, and it was a nice little time together – turkey light lettuce for her, and tuna with all the veggies for me.
And cutie, tiny little Addie was back at the easel at school today, doing some painting with a little friend.
This simple dry erase board marks the next milestone in my journey at DOC. In June, I accepted a promotion to a supervisory role in my current unit. I think most of the supervisors in our Bureau have one of these, so my Chief had one ordered for me, and it was installed today. Grateful for this opportunity, and embracing all the new responsibilities of my new position!
Little Pennie did good in her surgery today, and was just very drowsy sleepy when Jeff picked her up this afternoon.
Emmie was very sweet and attentive to her when we all got home, and literally did not leave her side (except for one trip to the bathroom) for the two hours between getting home and bedtime.
I made some spicy Thai noodles for Jeff and me (one of those super simple frozen skillet meals, although I know it wasn’t this expensive when I bought it a couple of months ago…), and so the girls had a couple random things that weren’t spicy noodles.
Made a cute little Taylor Swift vinyl TikTok, to collect my weekly bead for the TSErasTour challenge on TikTok.
I did some puzzling while Emmie snuggled Pennie on couch, and Addie played a little in the living room. Like I said, my progress is very slow right now, but tonight I actually did really well, and did this leaf & stem by the lemon, and the stem up there by the clementines.
And Emmie was so worn out from her big day at camp, that her and Pennie just fell asleep right there on the couch, with the big light still on and everything.
Addie fell asleep easily for daddy, and I got Emmie moved to her room easily as well. Jeff just took Pennie out for a bathroom break and a tiny short walk, and she finally ate some food too. Hopefully she has a quick, easy recovery! And remember, as Bob Barker always said, “Help control the pet population, have your pets spayed or neutered!”
