Beautiful Blue Springs

(Post for Saturday, 8/6/22.)

We started our morning with Trader Joe’s croissants, followed by packing up PopPop’s truck he nicely let us borrow, and then we hit the road on the way to Blue Springs over in Jackson County! It was a beautiful day, and we had a great time!

We’ve been here a couple other times though the years (once before I started blogging, and once when Emerson was only a year old), and we really like it. There’s plenty of space to set up our pop-up canopy with chairs and a cooler, and lots of space in the freezing cold water!

Whenever she got too cold after swimming for a while, she would climb up on top of my tube to lay out on top of me in the sunshine to warm up for a few minutes.

We brought a cooler full of drinks and watermelon and stuff to make sandwiches for lunch, plus a bag of chips and snacks. So when we finally got Emmie to agree to get out of the water for a little bit, we had lunch there, and let both girls warm up for a while.

And then Emerson got brave and decided to do this giant slide all by herself! She got a little scared when she got to the top the first time, but there was a nice preteen girl right behind her that brought her little sister up, and she talked Emerson through it and helped her and get ready, and Emerson finally did it!

Of course I got myself a cold coffee for the ride home 😁

We were glad Nana came with us to help with the girls, and also glad PopPop let us borrow his truck to haul all the stuff, and so we’d all fit in one vehicle.

We drove through a terrible storm for about half of our drive back to Tally, but Jeff did a great job in the super loud, super heavy rains.

After we made it back to town, we unloaded the truck, and sent Nana back home. Then we went out to have family dinner at my parents. Megan and Bo and the triplets were supposed to be there too, but the triplets weren’t feeling well. Emerson begged to swim for a little bit, even though we had been in the springs all day, so Papa was nice and took her in for a quick swim. We went simple with sandwiches and chips for dinner, but it was a nice quiet evening together with family.

The girls had bath time after dinner & swimming, and Grammy fixed Emerson a snack bag to bring home. The deer were starting to arrive for their nightly corn when we started to get in the car, so we stood there quietly and watched them for a few minutes.

I was of course exhausted by the time we finally made it back home, and finished getting the girls in bed. But I did sit down on the computer to start writing this post. I inserted all the pictures, and even made a cute little video from our time in the springs. But then we started having computer issues, and even Jeff couldn’t get it working properly. So by 10:30 we just called it quick, and I had to go to sleep!

So now it’s 8:00 a.m. on Sunday morning and I just finished all the writing this post from my phone while the girls are just now waking up. Now I’ll go up to the computer to see if we can get the video into the post, because it’s just too cute not to include!

……….

Well, it’s not 5:30pm, and the computer is still wonky. So I’m just going to publish this post without the video for now, and hopefully I’ll be able to include it later. And who knows if I’ll be able to blog tonight or not🤷🏼‍♀️
