Emerson and I started our day together, eating Lucky Charms at the kitchen counter.
Then she played and was silly while I showered and got dressed. She marched into the bathroom with her backpack on, singing “hi ho, hi ho, hi ho, hi ho…” because she has recently been watching Snow White.
I left the house to go to church today (it was my turn on praise team, even though our entire congregation is still watching online only and we sing to a huge empty sanctuary), as Emerson was participating in her pre-school music Zoom time.
Her and Daddy had a good time together all morning, playing and hanging out and being sweet. (And apparently she laid under the coffee table at some point, and colored on the underside of the table…)
And today was the first time I wore a full face of makeup since Easter, five weeks ago! (Even though I’ve only been working from home for two weeks, I was one of only like, three people in my office, so I just didn’t even care enough…) Also, I don’t know how to just take a “normal” selfie… I tried, but here ya go… Also, my Grandmommie picked out this lipstick for me, and it’s like, the perfect shade!
Emerson wanted to wait for me to eat lunch, so Jeff had gotten everything ready for us (i.e. – warmed up the leftovers from his mom’s house last night), so when I got home, we just grabbed drinks and napkins, and sat down for lunch together. And this girl was being so goofy! She kept roaring and growling like a dinosaur, but she was hilarious!
After getting Emmie down for nap time, Jeff and I finished watching “Iron Man 2” which we started the other night, and then I made cowboy caviar, for a cookout/pool party we’re having at my parents’ house tomorrow. It’s better when it sits for a day, so it’ll have a little over 24 hours to marinate before eating, and it’ll be delish!
After Emerson woke up from her nap, we had some snacks and movie time and played around on the couch for a while, before finally getting up and moving. We got the tent taken down, but it was pretty wet underneath, so we couldn’t pack it away yet. So it’s just laying out in the carport for the night, and hopefully it’ll be dry enough to roll up tomorrow.
Then Nana came by with a surprise for me… She bought all the stuff to make a container herb garden for me, just like hers!
We planted chives, Thai basil, English thyme, oregano, and mint. I already have a huge rosemary bush growing in our front yard, but I’m going to see if I can get some cilantro that’s in the fridge to root, and then I’ll plant that in there too.
Jeff also mowed the whole front yard, and about half of the backyard while we worked on our little plant projects.
The other thing we did was split up my giant pepperomia plant. So this first photo of the plant in the yellow pot was last March, when I re-potted it into the bigger bicycle pot. Turns out it was very happy with her move into the bigger pot, because it has grown SO WELL this past year! Check out the photos below, for what it looked like today…
So we split it up, with one large branch in a large-ish size pot, and then one little tiny one back in the tiny yellow pot it originally started out in. I’ve read this plant is really good to be split (aka propagated) like this, so I hope she does well now that we’ve split her up like this!
Oh and we also re-potted the little yellow flowers that Nana & Emmie potted last weekend, into this bigger pot, so they could continue growing bigger too.
Before we had started all of our planting tonight, I had put some stuffed peppers in the oven. So by the time we finished planting, dinner was ready and waiting to be eaten! And they turned out delicious!
My girl was just super hyped up and acting all crazy, so it was a little tricky getting her to clean up her room a little bit, and then calm down to get ready for bedtime. She was just being super goofy and silly.
In this photo, she kept saying “blub, blub, blub” over and over again for no reason, and just absolutely cracking herself up! It was hilarious!
We did lullabies and “Jesus Loves Me,” and then I laid her down. But she wasn’t really ready to go to sleep, so Jeff ended up having to go back in there after a few minutes to get her to calm back down again. After that, he cleaned the living room while I washed dishes (both rooms looked like a tornado went through there; you couldn’t even tell that both had been perfectly clean & tidy first thing this morning), and now we’re both just absolutely exhausted from a busy day and all of the chores we accomplished. Looking forward to one more weekend day tomorrow!
