Back on the Patio

Only the four biggest girls went to school today, since Addie had a fever yesterday and had to stay home. But these four were adorable and so sweet!

Then I headed back home to take care of Addison for the day. I made fancy avocado toast, by adding some fried eggs on top, and Addie and I had breakfast together. Then by the time we finished and got cleaned up, she had been awake for a few hours by that point already, and was ready for a bottle and a nap around 9am.

So I cuddled her for about 30 minutes, and then took her to lay in her crib. Then she proceeded to nap for 4½ hours total!!! During that time, I boiled some eggs and made up some tuna salad and egg salad, and got those in the fridge for later. Then I had another cup of coffee and watched TV. I felt like being more productive, so I washed dishes, and cleaned up the living room, dining room & kitchen…

She was still sleeping, so I made this amazing and healthy plate for lunch, and watched more TV (I started watching “The Dropout” on Hulu)… Homemade tuna (obvs), mini cucumbers, cream cheese stuffed mini sweet pepper, spicy garlic pickles, & a pear. So good!! And I also made some lunch for Jeff, and we watched TV together on his lunch break…

And then finally around 1:30pm, this tiny sleeping beauty decided it was time to wake up! Whatever this fever/random sickness was, apparently her little body needed lots of sleep to fight it off!

But then she had a bottle, and was wide awake and so sweet and ready to play!

And here we have a little photoshoot of some of the silly faces she kept making this afternoon…

After playtime, she was getting tired, and a mere 2 hours after she had woken up from her 4 hour nap, she was ready for more sleep. So I got her to sleep, and settled back in her crib, and went to pick up Emerson from school early. On the way home, she asked if we could eat dinner outside, so I told her she would have to help me clean off the table first, and she was such a great, sweet little helper!

Then I threw together our first random Aldi meal of the week (remember, I just let the store show me things to buy last week, without a list or a plan), using this chicken sausage, and well, all that other stuff in the next picture…

And this sweet helper put together the bagged salad kit, and even decided she wanted to eat some of it herself tonight! I’ve been trying to get her to like salad forever, but it’s been unsuccessful so far. She still only ate a few bites tonight, but that’s a step in the right direction!

I ended up doing a one-skillet sausage tortellini situation, and added a tiny handful of the last of a bag of mozzarella I found in the fridge, and it turned out pretty tasty! I’d give it about a 7 out of 10 😉 But it was really nice outside, and Emmie was so proud of how “clean” we had gotten the table. I still think we need to pressure wash the whole thing next weekend, but it was so great to be eating back out on the patio again. (We spenr some time remembering last year, when we ate out there so often when Addie was a newborn in her boppy.)

Jeff took care of the dishes and cleaning up the kitchen after dinner, while I got to hang out and play with the girls. Addison was already looking sleepy again at 7:20 (after sleeping from 3:30-6pm), so we started working on getting the girls in bed. Emerson had a slightly rough bedtime, but overall it wasn’t too bad. And by the time I went back to love her one more time as she requested, she was totally and completely passed out.

Addison on the other hand, had a really terrible night, and spent about 2 hours screaming, with Jeff and I taking turns trying to calm her down and get her to rest. She never had a fever today (last one was Sunday night), but good grief she was so worked up tonight! It was about 10:45 by the time she finally gave up and then she passed out so hard, her paci had already fallen out of her mouth just five minutes after she fell asleep.

So that was a rough night for her, and for us parents, but we made it through. It’s now 11:30pm and I’m just now finishing this post, sitting in the silent living room, before crashing into bed in 3… 2… 1… Night night.
