Emerson is still very much loving her new Rosie Unicorn, and loves to tote her (and her two pacis) around the house in the mornings.
At school, we took our daily pictures inside the front lobby, because it was still so dark outside! We used to always take them in her class, but then over the summer she started getting really clingy, it worked better to take pics before going inside. But now, it’ll be too dark during the winter to do pics outside anymore, so maybe we’ll try classroom photos again… I actually started taking these daily photos initially not for the blog, but to send to Grammy every day. And now it’s just part of our routine!
I met my friend Angie for lunch today at Midtown Caboose. She was really wanting a BLT, so we chose this place specifically for that. I got the Monte Cristo, but phew, both sandwiches were too big and just too much. I actually only had one bite of my mac & cheese, and took the rest home, knowing Emmie would love it. Angie and I hadn’t had lunch in way toooo long (our last lunch was in January!), so we had lots of fun things to catch up on, and we had a great time!
After work today, we were back to our regular weeknight routine – I picked up Emerson, Jeff came home a few minutes later. We got the mail together (after she got her backpack), and then she tried on her new sunglasses that Ms. Q got for her! We walked around the backyard for a while, and checked on our oranges. They’re about the right size now, and in a couple months, they’ll start changing color! We also opened up my new Grove box, and then changed out all my sink stuff for new fall things. (Click here for a great Grove deal!)
I also love that coincidentally, I have new apple cider scented soap & cleaning spray, and a basket full of real apples as well, right above it.
Jeff played with Emmie while I made our super simple dinner – beef tips, rice & green beans. This is one of my easy peasy meals we repeat often because it’s so easy, yummy, and Emerson eats it so well. It’s also just the right size for two adult portions, and a little girl portion.
Then dinner was supposed to be followed by bath time for Emerson, but she wanted to skip it tonight. Instead, we worked on finishing up our two crafts from the weekend, tying the little wind chimes on the mermaid she painted, and tying twine on the lantern to make a handle. Then we put a tiny flashlight in the lantern, and took it outside to test it out!
And then we just Scotch-taped her wind chime to the shelf in her room, right below the canvas she painted a couple of weeks ago. Her room is starting to look super cute, showcasing some of her personal art!
We dug out some new books to read tonight (well, not “new” but just not our usual’s), and she enjoyed hearing new stuff.
This one was from Aunt Meggie, and I didn’t even remember it, but it was really cute! (This was her saying, “night night little fox.” It was super stinking adorable.)
And then this little otter book is both incredibly cute (I might have started getting a little emotional reading it out loud) and visually beautiful. There is shiny silver on some of the pages, and it’s just really pretty. Maybe I’ll get a photo of one of the inside books tomorrow.
She wasn’t sure at first who she wanted to put her to bed, so she started with Daddy holding her, but then he was too hot, and she was ready for me to come in and take over. We did three songs, and repeated the last one, and then I successfully laid her down in her crib.
I washed all of the dishes from dinner with my new apple cider soap, and then cleaned the counter with the apple cider cleaning spray, and you guys, it smells soooo good! And now it’s time to just relax!
