Apple Fritters

Daylight savings time with small kids had us up and out on the town earlier than everyone else. Which was perfect to beat the crowds to breakfast at the Apple Barn. We “warmed up” by the fire for about 30 seconds, and then basically walked right back to our table for 12…

They always start you out with a complimentary apple julep (mix of apple, pineapple and orange juices), plus delicious fried apple fritters and incredible apple butter. Yummmm 🤤

Buuutt I forgot to take a picture of my actual breakfast, but it was also delicious

We kinda split up into a few different directions after breakfast, some of us picked up the grocery order for the week, some of us bought new deodorant since we forgot, and some of us took some kids back to the cabin. We had a chill morning playing on the arcade games in the basement, while the girls played in the hot tub.

We had a small lunch at the cabin since we had such a huge breakfast, and then got 5 of the 6 kids down for nap time. Mama, Megan and I played a quick game of Phase 10, and Meg kicked both our butts! 🤣

We went out to do a little souvenir shopping at a couple of the shops in town, at the Three Bears General Store, and the Moon Pie General Store. Papa handed out one dollar bills to all the kids, and Meg and I stuck our hands into the mix and came out with $1 each as well!

The Moon Pie store was way more my vibe though, with moon pies, books and puzzles! Surprisingly though, I didn’t actually buy a book or a puzzle, but I did buy a coffee mug! Maybe we’ll go back later in the week, if we have any of the spending cash left that we brought with us.

It was back to the cabin after this, for more hot tub time for the giliries, and Bo and I worked on dinner together. He mostly had it all under control, but I did sit down at the counter to shred the cheese by hand, because apparently this is the only kind of cheese he prefers these days.

I loved getting the view of the blue mountains at the dinner table, and I love this extra long wooden table (it’s actually two tables) for the whole fam to fit together!

We tried to have the girls watch a movie while dinner was cleaned up, but this lasted about 3 minutes before they were off & running again.

I did get about 10 minutes of peace and quiet up on the top floor balcony after dinner, which was lovely.

We played a crazy game of Pie face all together, but I personally hated the feeling and smell of the whipped cream on my face!

Afterwards, we got all the girls in the bath/shower, to get them cleaned up,and then they all went straight to sleep. Once everyone else started trickling off to bed, Mama and I got started on this new special puzzle she brought with her specific to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg!

It’s past 11pm now, and I’m so exhausted I can barely hold my eyes open as I’m writing this tonight…
