Another Trip Around the Sun

Got the girlies to school this morning as usual, and although I had gotten up and helped everyone get dressed and ready, I stayed home bundled up and warm on the couch!

I took the day off from work for my birthday, and so I spent the day just doing whatever I wanted! Once I was ready to get up and moving, I put in a pick-up order for a delicious breakfast from Bagel Bagel (thanks for the idea, Meg!), and then ordered my free Starbucks drink for drive-thru pickup as well. Then I took it all back home to eat in the warmth and comfort of my home 🙂

Then I spent a couple of hours watching a new series I started on AppleTV called “Silo.” I’m a couple of years late to the tv series (it’s been out for a while), but I read the book series literally 10 years ago and loved it so much. I was also working on my puzzle while watching tv, which was fitting, since my birthday is also National Puzzle Day!

Meanwhile, it was Grandparents’ Day at NFC, so both of my parents and both of Jeff’s parents all went to see Addison in their little program. They also got to visit her classroom for some activities, and have lunch in the big kid cafeteria. (Usually, Addie’s class and the other preschool kids just eat in their classrooms.) And since my parents were also there to see the triplets, they were all able to eat lunch together!

Jeff and I met at up Maria Maria for lunch today for my birthday, because I wanted some tacos. I actually got a tostada, not tacos, but it was delicious.

When I walked out to the car after lunch, I thought it was funny to find a little mini club of white Volkswagons all parked together, with mine sandwiched in the middle. I was the only one when I first parked, so the other two came while I was eating. We were also parked in stair-step order, from smallest on the left to the biggest on the right.

Jeff had to go back to work after lunch, but I went to City Walk Thrift and found a great selection of books. They were stocked today and I could have picked another giant stack of this size. And after checking out, and seeing that there was a $4-off discount, I wish I would have grabbed a few more! The books are only $2/each anyways, which is really the best I’ve found in town.

Then Nana met up with me at Belk, and we scoured the clearance racks and found some great deals! We found matching dresses for the girls, and a t-shirt for each of them. Then she treated me to a new dress and cardigan as well. I was so surprised that I not only picked, but also liked this dress with pink leopards (or cheetahs or jaguars or something?) on it, and was even more pleasantly surprised that the pink sweater I grabbed just so happened to match perfectly and look great too. And since everything was on clearance, we really lucked out getting some great deals.

Then we hit up a few more thrift stores together, like Salvation Army, Good Samaritan, and Goodwill. And I found these awesome chairs! They were $60 for the pair, real, solid wood, very sturdy, very clean, rattan/wicker was in perfect condition, and actually comfortable. I sat in them for a while, texted Jeff a picture, and let Nita talk me into actually getting them to use at our dining table. The chairs we have are very old and rickety. (Someday, I want to replace the whole table, with one a little bigger, and a little more 1960’s vintage style. Something like this one is the dream.) But for now, I’m really excited about these! We left them there today, and Dave & Nita are going to pick them up in his truck for us tomorrow. They do need a quick steam-clean, but other than that, I’m excited to get them moved into our dining room this weekend!

I also got a little basket (love using baskets to corral all the things), sunglasses, a couple more books, and a Peanuts puzzle for my parents, because that’s their favorite.

I eventually headed back home for a little bit more couch/puzzle/tv time, and I was determined to finish this up today, and I did! I thrifted this one a couple of months ago, and although it did come with 500 pieces, one of them didn’t actually belong to this puzzle, so I was still actually missing a piece! When I found that green one in amoung the others, I could tell it didn’t belong, but didn’t know until I finished today that one was missing.

I ran out to pick up the girls from school just a teensy bit early, and then also ran by Rabbit Creek really quickly. There’s a vintage seller who has a booth here, that also sells stuff through FB Marketplace, and I had to pick up something from her I purchased through Venmo, which is a gift for a family member so I can’t share the photo here. 😉 We also just loved browsing around, and seeing all the beautiful, unique things there.

Loved this sunset on our way home tonight.

I didn’t want to cook on my birthday night, but I also just wanted to be at home after running around all afternoon. So we ordered a couple of meals from Smalls Sliders for all of us to share, and Jeff went to pick it up and we ate at home while watching a movie. We figured out the most cost efficient way to order from there is one 2-slider meal for the girls to share, and one 4-slider meal for Jeff and I to share, plus bacon on all of them, and extra pickles on the grown-ups’ burgers. This is plenty of food for all of us, and at about $35, it was roughly $15 cheaper than what we did the first time, which was two kids meals, and two 2-slider meals (all with bacon added of couse), for about $50.

Anyways, we ate at home, and Emmie worked on her homework, and I sat in this chair next to her while she was at the dining table. I got up for a few minutes though, and these two little cuties stole my spot while I was up!

We got them into bed a pretty normal time, and everyone was worn out and fell asleep easily. I loved the way Pennie was so curled up into Emmie, so sweet and cozy. And of course Addie was holding on to Daddy, trying to keep him there for as long as possible. I also loved that she chose to sleep in her little tiny cardigan.

I thoroughly enjoyed my special day, getting some free time to myself, and some time with family, and treating myself to yummy foods (I’ll go back to low-carb tomorrow!). And as always, thank you for all of the sweet birthday texts, calls, and messages today, it makes me feel so loved! 🙂 Grateful for another trip around the sun!
