Beautiful cotton candy skies this morning.
This baby goofball kept hiking her jeans up this morning. I tried to fix them and pull them back down, but she was just insistent that they needed to be pulled up higher! So here she is, with her jeans up to her neck
Today is actually fall picture day at school, so she’s got a cute little corduroy skirt to change into when it’s time for photos. But it’s too big for her, and it kept slipping off her tiny booty this morning, so we switched to jeans & packed the skirt, and her teachers will put it on & fasten it with a safety pin I sent, and hopefully it works well enough to take a few photos!
And this face was her pouting and telling me “noooo” when I tried to pull them down a little bit. She’s like a tiny-baby-female Urkel!
Very interested in her chocolate chip muffin (and the leftover Gatorade from Taco Bell last night, that we saved in her cup in the fridge).
I didn’t have anything at home to bring for lunch today, so my friend Heather and I made a plan to go out. We were worried about the potential tropical storm rain & such that was supposed to maybe begin around noon today, so we decided to just go through the drive-thru and bring it back to work, to avoid getting caught in the rain. So we made it there and back in about 30 minutes, but not a drop of rain was in sight! That was fine though, because then I got to read my book at my desk while eating delicious fried chicken.
I had kind of been on a Grove hiatus for a couple of months, after my VIP trial with free shipping ended… But out of nowhere today, they sent me an email saying, “Free shipping on us (with $15 minimum purchase)!” So I was like OK! I hopped over to their site, added just a few things to reach the minimum, and clicked “ship now!” So I’ll get a box of goodies next week, and I’m excited for the surprise free shipping. Been wanting to try it for yourself? Then you should click here for $35 worth of free goodies, which will give me a $10 referral credit! 🙂
This smiley baby girl went poop in the potty for the first time at school today! We’re so proud of her! 🙂
Jeff went over to help his Dad install some security cameras at their house tonight, and have a little “guys’ night,” since Nita is out of town for a couple days. So Grammy picked up Emerson from school early (around 3:15, after her hair appointment), and she took her on home with her. I headed out to their house when I got off work (and braved the 5 o’clock traffic on Thomasville Road), to have dinner with my parents and Grandmommie!
She helped Papa put out some corn for the deer…
And read books with Grandmommie…
And then when I got there, she was rearranging furniture…
We had delicious lasagna for dinner. Well, the adults did. Emmie had a little of everything – lasagna, roll, hot dog, and cheese.
She wanted Papa to get her piggies. (You know, “this little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home…”)
We sat out on the front porch for a while, watching to see if any deer would come get the fresh corn for dinner. Emmie ate a cup of crushed ice with Grammy, and I ate a slice and pecan pie.
We stayed and played and hung out as it got darker, and then Emmie wanted Grammy and Grandmommie to put on her jammies before it was time to head out. I drove all the way back into town on Meridian from Bannerman, and man, it is dark out there. So I prayed most of my drive, just praying the Lord would keep us safe on the dark, twisty turny road. A raccoon actually darted out in front of me at one point, so I hit the brakes and luckily avoided hitting it, and we made it home safe and sound.
Emmie had some more of the leftover Gatorade (which she kept calling apple juice) at home, and I let her sit in our bed and we watched two little kid YouTube videos together.
She was super sweet during all of the bedtime routine stuff – books, kisses, prayers, lullabies – and even let me lay her down right when we finished up. But then as soon as I closed the door to leave, she started whining for me. I’ve left her in there for about 10 minutes, and she’s just been repeating “mommy mommy mommy” in sets of three like that for most of that time. Sooo it looks like I’m going back in there now to try again.
I was hoping that the last two nights had been off, just because I hadn’t been home for the usual routine. But tonight doesn’t seem to be going better, so maybe not. But I’ve also heard from a handful of other toddler Mama’s that this has been a rough week for them too at bedtime, so maybe there’s something in the water with these kids?? Or something about the phase of the moon? Or planet Mercury? I don’t know, but it’s exhausting…
