Y’all know how much I love a pretty sky photo!
Emerson looked adorable in this romper, and was actually excited to go to school today! She had seen a few of her friends head in just before us, so she ran in after them, and barely even glanced back to tell me goodbye. But that’s fine with me, because that made drop-off so much easier!
Shortly after our drop-off, the triplets arrived, and they stopped by Emmie’s classroom, for her to help them get to their own classroom. In the second photo below, at first glance I was like, “Wait, she’s not that much taller than them?” But it’s because she was jumping and Meg caught her up in the air!
And this little hug with Ellie is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen! And I love how the twins are looking on in the background too.
Jeff picked up Emerson early from school today, right after her naptime, and he took her to her 6-week post-op cardiologist appointment. And she had a great appointment! First of all, she has gained one whole pound in this last month, which is a big deal for her, since she’s been the same 25 lbs for months. We still need to be careful with the way we pick her up for a few more weeks (just to be on the safe side), and things were back to “extremely low flow,” as opposed to “high flow” from pre-op. (Whatever exactly that means…)
And she was given the greenlight to get back to regular activities, like playing on the playground! She hasn’t been able to play on the playground at school these last couple of weeks, and she’s obviously been very sad about that. So she is super excited to get back out there on the playground! She’s going to continue taking her daily low-dose Asprin for the rest of the year, but we don’t have to go back for another follow-up appointment until six months from now, in April.
After the appointment, they came up to my office for a quick visit. Emmie has been wanting to see the tiny fridge in my office that I mentioned to her a few weeks ago, and she thought it was so small and silly. She also found a go-gurt in my fridge, so she claimed it for her own and had a snack. She said hi to some of my coworkers, even though she was really shy.
My friend Toni gave her these little black foam kitty cats, which she thought were pretty great.
And since Aunt Suzanne works at the same place/building I do, we stopped by to see her for a few minutes too. And Aunt Suzanne spoiled her with all sorts of stuff! A little cup with a balloon with some Dum-Dum’s inside, a pen with a thumbs up on the lid, and a spider monkey with velcro hands & feet that she fastened around Emmie’s neck & waist for her!
Jeff and Emmie left my office to head to Nana’s house for a visit with them next. I had a few errands to run after work, so I went Trader Joe’s, TJ Maxx, and Starbucks, all within about 10 minutes. I was very efficient and I was proud of myself for getting all my errands done so quickly. I was on my way out to church for a 6pm women’s Bible study, so I grabbed a couple of my fave nibbler’s from Zaxby’s, of course with extra Zax dipping sauce on the side.
And while I was in Bible study (for the first time since February), Jeff and Emmie stayed over at Nana & PopPop’s house for dinner and cookies. Emmie even helped Nana cook the dinner and the cookies!
I got back home just about five minutes before they did, so I unpacked all my bags and stuff from the day, and found a new spot for my new plant I got at Trader Joe’s this afternoon! This is a snake plant, and it’s apparently one of the easiest houseplants. I’ve had my eye on one of these for a while, and even checked them out at both Walmart and Home Depot. But I found this one today, for only $10.99, and already in a cute little ceramic pot!
When Jeff and Emerson got home, after she gave me lots of hugs and loves, we started to head down the hall for bedtime. I pointed out my new plant to her, and after looking up at it silently for about three seconds, she said, “Is that a snake plant?” And I was floored that she knew that!? I mean, I guess maybe she’s overheard me say it the couple of times we’ve looked at them, but the fact that she remembered it and identified it, is super impressive!
She accidentally bumped her head on the nightstand while picking out her bedtime book (it was honestly the tiniest little bump), but she needed an ice pack, and she needed to rest her head while we read the story.
We chatted for a bit, and I asked her to please be still careful at school tomorrow, even though she was allowed to play on the playground, and she very seriously told me she promised she would do some running, but she would run kinda slow and not fall. She was so sweet. She was sweet and cuddly and we did our lullabies, and she easily laid down.
Now I’m gonna go grab some milk and some of the cookies the Nana & Emmie made, and finish watching the Christmas episode of “When Calls the Heart” season four episode, which so far is extremely sweet and charming.
