Emerson was all happy and smiley today, and ready to head back to school today. It helped that it was a Friday! And Addison got to wear her pj’s to school today, for February Fun Friday’s! She wore some hand-me-down sloth jammies from her sister, and chose her own headband 🙂

Jeff picked me up from work, and we both picked up the girls together. We had to make a stop at CVS on the way home to pick up one singular printed photo, and of course some snacks were picked out too. (I didn’t get a snack though, just ate a dumb meat stick we already had in the car, even though I really wanted to pick out some chocolate like an Almond Joy or KitKat.)

When we finally made it home, I got started on dinner, while Emmie worked on her painting, and Jeff worked on the car. Addie was just watching her Kindle up at the counter while I worked. I cut up a ton of veggies (plus grape tomatoes, not pictured below) and tiny potatoes, plus some chicken tenderloins. I seasoned it all up with some Greek-ish flavors, and roasted it all in the oven. Then I made some homemade tzatziki sauce with fresh dill, and topped it all with feta cheese and more fresh dill. It was reallyyyy good. The girls both tried a few bites, but I knew they wouldn’t love it, so I just let them eat cereal for dinner.

I made my plate with a huge portion of the veggies, and only a tiny handful of potatoes, and then didn’t even eat all the potatoes I had given myself. Really, I had just been wishing I had more of the sauce I made!

Emerson worked very diligently to finish up her watercolor painting for her art submission in “Fun Arts” tomorrow. GC Kids will be taking a trip to Panama City to participate in an event called Winter Blitz, which is kind of just a tiny little one-day conference for kiddos, with worship, a kids service, missions emphasis, and they do “fun arts,” instead of “fine arts,” for a more low-stakes entry into future fine arts competitions as they get older. She is singing a vocal solo for the third year, but this will be her first year submitting an art piece, and I’m so proud of how well she did! I sat with her, and talked through things with her, but she did it all on her own, with no help! (Once I’m certain it’s dry later, I’m going to put it in a frame for her, and attach the photo we printed of Epworth by the Sea, to show as her inspiration.)
Loved this little cuddle pile of my three girls at bedtime, all so lovey and sweet together.

And Emmie is just so sweet with her love of doggies, with her chin resting on her stuffed Pretzel dog (our dog who passed away almost exactly two years ago), and her arm slung around Pennie’s neck, holding them both closely.

Earlier, I got started working on one of my favorite easy puzzles to repeat between the more difficult ones, so I’ll work on that a little before bedtime, since I already washed up all the dishes that were piled in the sink while dinner was cooking. I then washed my giant cutting board after dinner, and the few dishes we ate off of can wait until another time…
Emerson will spend almost the whole day (from 8am to 7pm) doing the Winter Blitz stuff, with all the travel time to Panama City and back included. Jeff, Addie and I plan to spend about half of the day there as well, so we can see her sing, and see her artwork displayed! So we’re all taking a little mini day trip!
