Emerson was very excited and very ready for another fun-filled water Friday at school today!
So Jeff had to go into his office this morning (for the first time since March 18th!), to get a new piece of equipment for one of the users he supports for IT work, and then take it to that guys house. He offered to grab us some take-out for lunch on his way back home, so we ordered Columbian food from Super Peros.
He got the traditional chicken dish with rice & beans & tostones (didn’t take a photo of his, but we got it a couple months ago, click here for that blog post), but I was feeling adventurous so I tried something new. This is the stuffed mixta arepa, that has at least two kinds of meats, some cheese, some sauce, and crushed potato chips – and it was so interesting and good and flavorful! Plus a little chicken empanada on the side.
After I finished eating, I took my old spice rack thingy outside to do a light sanding. We originally bought this at Goodwill back in 2014, and it was just plain yellow-y faux wood. Then I painted it this bright green color and we hung it up on the wall the old duplex we used to rent, because there was zero counter space at this place.
Then when we moved to our current house, I just flipped it upside down and tucked it up under the cabinets on the counter top. But this old green color was clashing big time with the new blue, so it’s going to get painted the same blue as the lower cabinets.
After a quick sand, I set up a priming station on the coffee table, while we watched a few videos for the last half hour of our lunch break.
And look at what a great day my little had at water day today! Always looks like so much fun out there!
Once again, I made sure to take time for my 15-minute afternoon break, to read some of my book. Our dining room isn’t lovely and neat and tidy like usual, but at least the mess means we’re working on a project! (Oh, and I worked in jammies for the first time today, after changing out of my usual jeggings during the lunch-time priming project.)
Miss Priss had to stomp around in the shallow puddles before getting in the car when I picked her up.
Oh, and last night Jeff surprised me by painting all the kitchen cabinets blue while I was blogging, and I didn’t even know! So when I ended last night’s blog, I thought I was gonna have to go paint, but it was already done! (Oh, and we still need to deal with that window frame, but part of it is real wood and part of it is more of a wood-ish plastic situation, so we’re not sure how to paint it, without replacing the whole window frame, which we do NOT want to do.)
These garlic bread sticks got substituted in my Walmart grocery order the other day, when they were out of the garlic Texas toast I usually order. And these were so good! They reminded us a little of Olive Garden bread sticks, just kinda twisty!
Jeff and I had lasagna, but this little girl wanted cheese noodles, and then she finished every single bite! She was literally turning up the cup and trying to drink it! Jeff and I were cracking up and just laughing so stinking hard, because she is honestly the funniest little goofball!
This little messy bun is my fave!
And then it leads to all this crazy hair when we take it down for bedtime!
Sweet girl wanted Daddy to put her to bed tonight, so he rocked her and held her and sang the lullabies, and I sat on our bed listening to them on the baby monitor, and it was so precious.
Ok, so here’s where we are with the hardware situation… We just taped on these white hinges to get a feel for how they would look on the blue, and while it’s not ideal, I didn’t actually hate it as much as I thought I would. The handles are also a little more muted and “champagne” colored than they appear in the photo, but we really like the handles. We’re going to attempt to find some spray paint to match the handles, and try spraying the white hinges, and hopefully we’ll find a close-enough color match.
Tonight, we did a second coat of paint on the cabinet lowers, and a first coat of blue on all the drawer fronts and both the front and back of the lower doors. You have to wait at least 2 hours between coats, so if we’re still feeling motivated enough at 11pm, we might attempt the second coat, or we might just wait and do it in the morning. We’ll see…
I’m thinking we’ll probably wait until tomorrow, since it’s so incredibly humid lately, it might take a little longer to dry, and we don’t want the paint to be partially wet and tacky. So yeah, maybe tomorrow morning… So for tonight, it’s time to rest!
