Two-Year Heart Anniversary

Emerson looked absolutely beautiful for school this morning! Today is actually the 2-year anniversary of her open-heart surgery (and here’s the one-year anniversary) and coincidentally we picked out this cute little heart-dress for her to wear today. It was just perfect!

And she had a good drop-off with Daddy today too.

And fittingly, the Ronald McDonald House shared this collage of Emerson today, and my Mama sponsored a pizza dinner for all the guests there tonight as well. I didn’t know she had done that until I saw this post, and this post brought tears to my eyes today!

Meanwhile, I took Addison back to the doctor’s office this morning. She’s still had fever all week, and yesterday we noticed her lymph nodes had become significantly swollen, visibly bulging on both sides of her neck. So we had a host of tests run today, including some blood work, but we’re still waiting on most of the results. Just please keep Addison (and the rest of us as we take care of her) in your prayers this weekend! (Look under her ear, you can see the bulge.)

Addison ate just a little bit of scrambled eggs when we got home, and watched a little bit of Finding Nemo, but then she was tired and ready to lay down.

So I got dressed and headed into work around mid-day again today. Addie woke up after a couple of hours and just wanted to cuddle up with her Daddy for a while. Eventually, she ate a few Pringles, but didn’t really want to eat too much, but she did want to put them in her buggy and push them around 😉

Jeff went and picked up Emerson from after school care, and both girls ended up falling asleep on the ride home. So he just sat in the driveway for about 15 minutes once they got home, letting them get a little bit of rest until I got home after work.

I got a random craving last week to try some old school pizza rolls, like what we used to eat growing up in the 90’s, so I added some to our Walmart order. We had them tonight for our Friday pizza night, and they were fine, but definitely not as great as you might think they were, or remember them being….

Accidentally got this not-so-flattering picture of Emmie, and Jeff thought it was hilarious, so I’m including it here, even though I don’t love it, haha 🙂

I made a really quick run to CVS tonight to get a few supplies for Addie, to try to keep her hydrated. She doesn’t really want to eat or drink much, so we’re trying some good flavors for liquids, and these applesauce pouches she loves so much.

And then she did in fact eat an entire applesauce pouch, so that was a good thing.

And look how sweet my sister is! After the rough couple of weeks we’ve had last week and this week, she surprised us with a DoorDash delivery of Insomnia Cookies tonight! They were delish. Thank you, Meg!

She got up and danced and clapped and smiled to the music in her tv show, so that was also a good sign she wasn’t feeling too bad for a little bit there.

Emmie got sad tonight when we called Aunt Meggie to say thanks for the cookies, and realized that they were over at Grammy’s house. So Grammy texted me to ask if Emmie wanted her to pick her up for a lunch date tomorrow, and this was her very excited YES!

Emmie was a little over-tired and quite emotional at bedtime still (over anything and nothing), but once she settled down, she was asleep in minutes. Addie on the other hand fell asleep quickly, but then woke up about 10 minutes later, and has been wide awake and wandering all over the living room for the past hour. It’s now 10pm, so we’re going to attempt to rock her back to sleep again now, and maybe this time it’ll stick…
