Twin Block

My beautiful baby blondie, ready for another Wednesday chapel day.

And my beautiful eldest daughter beaming in the morning sun rays, before her ortho appointment.

After getting her braces removed two weeks ago, today we went back to pick up the next step in this orthodontics journey, a retainer-like piece called a “twin block.” It’s interlocking acrylic pieces that attach to both her upper and lower teeth, that will help her lower jaw grow forward and ultimately help correct her severe overbite.

Poor girl could barely close her mouth with the new appliance in when we left there. It’s definitely something she has to consciously work on and practice. It’s also kinda painful for her the first few days, until her mouth gets used to this new situation. (She was actually in quite a lot of pain tonight by bedtime, so please pray for her over the next few days!)

She was dressed fancy for school picture day, so I made sure to get a couple of portrait shots in the soft morning light (without her twin block). And she was so beautiful!

I had a few spare minutes after taking her to school, before I had to show up at my office, so I found a new Little Free Library (or “Little House Li-berry” as Addie calls it). And this one was huge! Double doors, with an upstairs and a downstairs, and six little separate rooms, in a nice neighboorhood. Definitely gonna have to come back to visit this one on the regular.

I picked up Emmie after school, and her and I headed to church early for kids choir and worship team, respectively. Jeff picked up Addie, and apparently she needed to wear his hat to block out the bright sun.

I never really take any pictures for Wednesday church, but it was a good praise and prayer service as always. When we got home tonight, Jeff brought in two more plastic grocery bags stuffed full of more books from his friend. So this stack on the floor, and then the six or seven on the end on the shelf. I also put aside a stack to put back in some Little Free Library’s as well.

And this little shelf is looking much more full and so very cute!

Addie Pie was having a hard time listening to directions tonight, but by the time we got past that and she was cozy in my spot on the bed, she was so sweet and cutesy.

And my poor little Emmie was really upset about having to put her mouth piece back in. She only takes it out to eat, and is supposed to wear it basically 24/7 other than that. So she took it out at bedtime to brush her teeth and wash the pieces (she has to brush it with a second toothbrush using clear antibacterial soap!), but was scared and crying to put it back in, because she knew it was going to hurt so much. She was also just so tired by that point, and I didn’t want to put her through that any more. So I gave her some Tylenol, and told her she could have the night off from wearing it, until she gets used to it more. Apparently it’ll take a few days until it doesn’t hurt so bad…

It’s been a late night getting the girls to sleep, after a late night at church, and it’s almost by bedtime now too, once I finally finish up this post.
