I love seeing beautiful sunrises like this right from my backdoor on Saturday mornings!
This sweet girl is just about the only thing worth waking up before 7am on a Saturday though!
We decided to run to Donut Kingdom for a few donuts, and Emerson specifically requested to go in her nightgown, so why not?
And they always give her one free donut hole, which is very sweet and she thinks is very special.
After going through the boxes of hand-me-downs last night, I folded and put away all of the shorts and shirts, but made this giant pile of dresses on on the dresser, so we spent time hanging them all up this morning, and organizing by size. And there are sooo many good ones I can’t wait for her to wear! Some of them are all the way up to 4T though, so it’ll be a few years until she hits that size, since she’s just barely in 2T now š We also cleaned out more of the clothes in her closet that she had outgrown, to put away in storage or pass down to the triplets, and things all feel very organized and such now.
This adorable little pair of Osh-Kosh overalls were mine when I was a tiny toddler, and my Mama saved them for the past 30-ish years. We found them in our clean-up today and tried them on her. And although they were absolutely adorable, they were a smidge too small. But good grief she’s cute!
After we finished with all of the clothes, we read some books (while she was dressed up like a unicorn), and then started tidying up the house. (You can see the living room was definitely a mess.)
She was singing “If you’re happy and you know it, shout hooray!” She sang all four verses in her sweet tiny voice, and it was precious. I love hearing her sing!
After yet another outfit change, she had cheese noodles for lunch, loved on Pretzel for a while, and then I got her down for a nap. She ended up sleeping for about two hours, so Jeff and I ate lunch and kept doing chores like laundry & dishes.
She had insisted on wearing jammies for nap time, and then once she woke up, she found this crown and thought it was the perfect accessory to complete her outfit.
After finishing up all of the clothing re-org, it was finally time to move out her old chest of drawers, and start building her new kitchen!
I also decided to pick up the rug from her room for a clean-up, and wow it was embarrassingly messy under there. Those piles of dust and sand were under the rug! Even though I vacuum it regularly, I literally never even thought about picking it up the clean underneath it. (Why wouldn’t I have thought of that though? I always pick up the small one at the back door to shake out & clean underneath. But it literally never crossed my mind for her bedroom. And wow. So gross. So I swept it all up, and then Emmie helped me Swiffer the whole room, before getting everything put back together and set up her new kitchen!
And look at how cute and adorable her kitchen is, complete with copper pots & pans & spoons! (I also appreciate that it’s not an obnoxious color scheme, so thank you Grammy & Papa for picking this one out!)
Just look how excited she was about her new kitchen!
We watched videos for just a few minutes while making a plan for the evening, in our much tidier house. It’s not perfectly clean, but wow it’s so much better. It turned into a disaster zone this past week somehow, and it was driving me nuts!
Jeff got this fancy schmancy cold brew coffee maker thingy, that you put course ground coffee into, refrigerate for 24 hours, and then you have homemade cold brew. But we needed to get some nice course ground coffee first. So we went to Lucky Goat and got them to grind it specifically for cold brew. Jeff went in by himself to get the bag of coffee, and surprised me with an iced coffee too!
Emerson LOVED smelling it. She was cradling it like it was one of her stuffed animals, and even resting her little head on it. So funny! But man, it sure did smell amazing!
We ordered take-out from Bahn Thai for dinner tonight, and brought it back home. (We got Emmie a chicken nugget happy meal, because she specifically told me she wanted the really good chicken nuggets and the red sauce so she could dip…dip…dip.) Jeff got the Bangkok chicken (top) and I got the garlic pepper chicken (bottom) with an order or crab rangoon. Honestly, I loved his, but didn’t so much love mine, but once again, the crab rangoons were absolute perfection! EmersonĀ did eat one of the rangoons, and loved it.
She had fun splashing around in the bathtub for a little while, and was very happy to use this new Minnie Mouse towel, complete with hood and ears.
We’ve been working on her learning to dress herself, and it’s going well for the most part, but she still gets a little bit stuck sometimes and needs some extra help.
We read the one hundred and one dalmatians book for bedtime, and got lots of hugs and kisses and cuddles before bedtime. She asked me to hold her like a baby, and she was being just the absolute sweetest girl, and I couldn’t get enough of it. I’m very glad to have my house back in order (for the most part at least), so now I’m gonna settle in on the couch, light my favorite candle from the Laurel Mercantile that I am very stingy with, and watch “Down to Earth” with Zac EfronĀ with the hubby.
