Such a goofy girl, in such a cute outfit!
So yesterday I got an email from our OIT, stating they issued me (and four others in my Bureau) the wrong laptops, and so I had to go back into the office this morning to switch it out. Womp, womp, womp. So dumb. I only had to stay long enough to sign in on the new laptop and make sure it was working good, and then I headed back home.
I left the office at 8:30 and went home, and the sun behind this tree as I walked out of the building was just so beautiful!
At lunch time, Jeff and I ate last night’s pasta leftovers, and watched the “Parks & Rec” quarantine special, and LOVED it. I literally cried duringt his part when they all sang “5,000 Candles in the Wind.” This is our favorite show, and we literally watch the whole series on constant rotation (it’s great for a quick 22-minute rest/meal/pre-bedtime-show), so these characters are almost like friends! I know I sound crazy, but oh well. It was so fun!
OK, when we get these little photos of Emmie gazing at her little boy-friends in her class, it makes me worried for when she’s a teenager! But this is so sweet!
Emmie’s teacher Miss Jessica sent us this video today, and I died laughing at it! I didn’t know she knew this dance, and I’ve never even seen her do it, but man I loved it so much!!! I’ve watched it like 10 times. I can’t get enough of it! (My favorite part is around 13 seconds, when she does her little robot arms.) She’s just the cutest, funniest tiny dancer!
Emmie wanted to pick a few books from the school library on our way out this afternoon, so she chose ducks & Dora!
After we got back home, I started up the Instant Pot to try out a new recipe I saw on Instagram. (She also put it on her blog, here.)
While I worked on some things in the kitchen, Emerson and Daddy read books together, and even found this Peanuts one with a tiny piano on it in her room, that I think Grammy & Papa must have gotten for her. Right, Mama?
I made the easiest IP recipe possible, and completed dinner with the easiest sides – instant mashed potatoes and a can of green beans. But I did at least jazz up the potatoes a little bit, so that’s something, right?!
After shredding the chicken, and thickening up the sauce in the pot, and then letting it sit for a few more minutes, I put the chicken on toasted buns with cheese & lettuce, and it was really good! It had a bit of a spicy kick to it, but Jeff and I both really liked it!
We played in the tent for a bit, and then played in the front yard while Jeff worked on a project in the carport. Emmie has been carrying around my whisk for a few days, so she took it outside to whisk the grass.
She had been wearing her headphone for a few minutes, while Jeff was using his drill. Then she told me she was going to throw them high and they would touch the sky. She was kind of leaning back on me sitting on the ground when she said that, so for her first throw, they just went right over the top of her head and onto my chest. Allllll the way up to the sky, haha 🙂 But then she did get up and toss them around for a bit, and she had some pretty decent throws.
We had video calls with Nana first, and then Gramm, Papa & Grandmommie. She was super sweet at bedtime and everything went really smoothly. I cleaned up the kitchen a little bit, but I’m kinda choosing to neglect the majority of the dishes tonight, and I’ll let future Halie deal with those…
