This day has been an absolute blur. It’s already 9pm and I’m just now starting the post, which I normally finish by this time. So, today will be picture-heavy, and light on the words. It’s all pretty obvious and self-explanatory anyways. Oh and also, this is blog post #700!! Isn’t that crazy?!
In the morning, Jeff went back to church for another event, while Emerson and I picked up groceries & put away the cold stuff, showered & got dressed, and then headed down beautiful canopy roads to Grammy’s house… for the triplets’ first birthday party!!!
We got there early so we could help set-up and decorate, and things turned out super cute!
They made up a ton of taco meat, with lots of yellow rice and black beans, and had a taco bar for lunch. I think Emerson liked it 😉
This is Lily – she’s 8 years old, and the daughter of Megan’s friend Holly, and Lily took care of Emerson pretty much all afternoon and was just so sweet.
These girls absolutely LOVED their smash cakes. It didn’t take them long at all, before they were diving right in with both hands, and they were literally up to their eyeballs in cake & icing!
This is Miss Kayla, or KK. She used to work at Growing Room, and now she’s one of the triplets’ two nannies, but Emerson still loves her so much, and clung to her for a while today.
We stayed very late past Emerson’s normal nap time, so towards the end of the party, things started going downhill. And since we have a full 30-minute drive from Grammy’s house to our house, I kept bothering Emerson all the way home, making sure she stayed awake so that she would nap once we got home. And it worked like a charm, because she was asleep in like 30 seconds once we got changed & settled in the glider in her room. And then I took a nap on the couch as well.
It was about 5:15 by the time we got up from nap time, and then after just a little bit of play time, I got started on a new recipe for dinner. This one is called “Change Your Life Chicken,” from The Lazy Genius blog, and it was super simple, and really yummy! Everything is baked on one sheet pan, and very delicious. We’re not even dark-meat people, nonetheless bone-in, skin-on thighs, but WOW, it was good.
Those roasted vegetables turned out soooo delicious.
Little Priss wasn’t into the veggies or the chicken, but she did eat an entire cup of cheese noodles!
She had a quick bath after dinner, and then got warm and cozy and snuggled up in her jammies to get ready for bedtime.
And she kept making all these super goofy faces, and I was laughing at her so much!
But then she also started making these super adorable, sweet faces, and then my heart melted.
She was easy to get to sleep again tonight, since today was such a long, busy day! I am personally still exhausted too after such a long, busy day, so I’m glad there aren’t many dirty dishes. Well, I’m not washing them tonight anyways, but still… Time to make some hot tea and rest.
