The Start of Spring Cleaning

Our church always does a big Easter egg hunt, and every year the members donate eggs & candy. We grabbed these eggs at Walmart yesterday, and had to tell Emerson about five times that they weren’t hers, but were for the church. It sunk in a little more when she carried them in herself this morning, and put them in the donation bucket.

I was in the baby nursery during Sunday school, and we had just one perfect little four-month-old angel baby, who cooed for a while, and then fell asleep! We had a good morning at church (I cried twice, apparently it was an emotional morning), and then had quick lunch with just us three before heading home.

I got my girl to “model” for me in her fancy church outfit really quickly before nap time, and I just love all these funny, cute little faces she was making.

Emerson fell asleep super quickly for nap time, and Jeff went to take a nap as well. His back was sore from all the work he did yesterday, plus he was getting a sinus migraine, so he needed to rest. While those two napped, I put my blue-tooth headphones in, and listened to my audio book while I went to town tidying up and cleaning the house. The living room, kitchen & dining room were all just so messy & cluttered, and it was driving me crazy. I also put away all the pink faux flowers & jars, & took down all the Valentine’s decor, and then re-hung the lights over the door frame near the bookshelf. Then I set the dining table with some spring decor, Swiffer-dusted all over the place, took out some trash, and vacuumed the living room & dining room rug. I was on a roll! Apparently today was the start of my annual spring cleaning bug. And everything just looks so much better now!

After finishing all the tidying, I sat down to watch just a little bit of Netflix while i wrote up till this point of this post, and then I read for a little bit (I only made it through about five pages) before Emerson woke up from her nap.

After she woke up, I got her dressed again (she had wanted to nap in jammies), and after a quick snack, her and I made a quick trip to Publix, for a couple things I forgot to include in yesterday’s Walmart grocery pick-up. And of course she got a cookie for being a good girl to ride in the buggy.

She wanted one ponytail on the top of her head, just like Miss Lindsey did the other day, and she even told me where to put the hair bow too. I just love this little goofball!!

So, I was putting on my makeup in the car this morning, and she wanted some too. I “put bronzer on her” and she asked what it smelled like, and I said coconut. She asked what she was and we talked about it for a bit, and she decided to needed to try some. So after talking about it for a few more minutes (she was fixated on it), I told her we could get some. So that was one of the random things we got at Publix.

I know I already shared one dining room photo earlier in the blog, but the afternoon sunlight was just too beautiful after the grocery store, to not take another photo!

So after dropping off the cold stuff, we went to our neighborhood park for a little bit of playtime on this beautiful afternoon!

After park time, Emmie cuddled up in Daddy’s lap with a bowl of strawberries I cut up for her, and they finished watching “Oliver & Company,” while I cooked a new recipe for one-pot creamy chicken & rice. She eventually got tired of sitting still, and got down to play, and was just completely entertaining herself with all her toys and books, just chatting and playing, and it was so sweet. And even though I felt a little scattered while cooking (and I made a huge mess), it turned out delicious!

Emmie wanted me to take her hair down right as we sat down at the table, and the way it was standing up on top of her head, reminded me of Free Willy’s dorsal fin, and I couldn’t stop laughing at it! But look at this sweet girl praying for her dinner 🙂

And even Emerson loved this recipe tonight! Well, not any of the veggies in it – she made me pick out all the tomatoes, carrots & celery – but she ate the actual chicken & rice like crazy! I kept having to scoop some out of my bowl to refill hers, because she was just going to town!

Dinner ended up being kind of late, so after we finished, it was immediately time to get ready for bedtime. She specifically asked to read The Three Little Pigs tonight, so we also got out the stuffed pig to go with it, and she just thought that was the greatest thing!

She was super sweet at bedtime and we got her down at a good time tonight, without too much hoopla or whining. The house was still nice & clean (Jeff & Emmie cleaned up the living room again right before dinner), so all I had to do after getting her down was clean the kitchen & wash tonight’s dishes while listening to my audio book. And now that I’ve practically been on my feet non-stop since like 1:30pm, it’s finally time to sit down & rest!
