The Corner

Late last night, a package of books showed up on our doorstep. I did a group order for our book club’s next book pick from Thrift Books again, and was able to get them for just $5.25 each! So I got them all unwrapped this morning, and packed up in a bookish tote bag to pass out to all the girls at church this morning.

The girls and I actually dropped off Jeff early at church for him to serve in GC Kids, and then we went back home to get ourselves showered and dressed. Loved picking out pretty spring dresses in bright springy colors for the beautiful weather today.

And loved getting this picture from Aunt Meggie of Emerson praying with Uncle Bo during kids church today.

We sat outside on the patio at El Rincon today for some Columbian food for lunch. (El Rincon just means “the corner” in Spanish, since it sits on the corner of Ocala & Tennessee; we had to look that up today when Emerson asked, since we didn’t actually know.) It was so warm and nice out there, and the food was so simple yet so delicious. This is one our favorite places, but we hadn’t been lately, so it was good to go back again. Also, love that they kinda matched the giant Columbian flag on the patio too!

Addison chose Mama to lay down with her for nap time, so her and I got ready together to lay down in my bed. I checked on Emerson before laying down, and she was just sweetly sketching in her little “reading corner,” all cute and cozy, under her special crocheted blanket from Grandmommie.

Addie and I slept for a little over two hours, and both of us woke up feeling much better after a good rest. Around 5:30, I got up and started working on dinner, and Jeff and the girls went out to clean out my car. I had been doing so well eating low-carb for a couple of months, but then the month of March was wacky bananas busy, plus I just wanted to eat whatever I wanted at Disney, so I kinda fell off that wagon. But tonight, we all hopped back on, and I made low-carb cheeseburger soup. This was the second time making this, and it came out super delicious again this time, even when I had to make it in the Instant Pot, since we haven’t yet gotten around to replacing our cracked cook-top.

Ordering a new cook-top is on tonight’s to-do list though, now that we’ve gotten past Moldova and Disney, and can focus on some of those other responsibilities that have fallen to the back-burner (no pun intended) for a few weeks. (Like also, getting the car towed to a mechanic’s shop to let someone else take a crack at it, since Jeff tried again over the weekend to fix it and still can’t get it working/running correctly.)

The girls had some play time after dinner, and Jeff and I took care of a few small chores and things around the house. I had washed up a ton of dishes earlier while the soup was simmering, so then we just rinsed out our bowls from tonight to wash another night. We laid out clothes for every day of the week for the girls, and took out the trash, and cleaned out the fridge too. Next we put away leftovers from tonight’s dinner, and then finally started getting the girls calmed down for bed. They were very sweet though and both fell asleep very easily.

Also, I made yet another TikTok from our Disney trip, with a Taylor Swift song of course, specifically to highlight the matching Swifie-bookish-Disney t-shirts I ordered for all of us to wear to Magic Kingdom. Long live all the magic we made!!
