Thanksgiving 2025

For the first time, we actually went out of town for Thanksgiving today! We went up to Tifton, Georgia, to long-time family friends’ of Jeff’s family, along with his parents, and his younger brother’s family eventually made it too (although they had some difficulties early this morning and didn’t make it until about 30 minutes before it was time for us to leave).

They have a nice big property with a little pond with geese and ducks, a chicken coop with chickens and a rooster, a big dirt pile on the side of the pond to climb on, and just tons of space to run and play. And the girls really went wild! They quickly changed into their tennis shoes that we brought, and ran around out there having the best time, making friends with some of the other little ones, chasing chickens, climbing the dirt, holding lizards and catching lady bugs!

And after a big lunch, and all that running around, of course they fell asleep almost immediately in the car on the ride back to Grammy’s house here in Tally. (I also took myself a little nap in the car too while Jeff was driving, since I had taken my turn driving us up there this morning.)

We got a quick family photo together when we got there, and then the girls changed into play clothes like the triplets, and continued running wild outside. Papa got a tiny little set of soccer nets and a soccer ball, and the girls loved running around playing.

I stayed inside helping Grammy get everything finished up. She had done a lot on her own already, but I put together a pan of my favorite “stick of butter rice,” and made a skillet full of honey glazed carrots. Bo made two types of corn casserole, Aunt Suzanne brought sweet potato pie and angel biscuits, and Aaron brought the green bean casserole. And of course everything was super delicious!

Ooh, and Mama also made homemade pecan cranberry butter, and I loved that stuff.

All these little cuties were ready for a big dinner!

Whew, this was all so good! I’m gonna have to invite myself back over to Grammy’s house again this weekend, to have a second plate from the leftovers, since I forgot to bring over my Tupperware for a to-go plate 😉

Papa had a bonfire after dinner for the kiddos, but I didn’t wanna smell like campfire smoke again, so I stayed inside, chatting with Grandmommie instead. With four hours of driving today, and two giant meals with two large families, we’re all tuckered out and ready for bed now!
