Tandem Reading

Apparently, Daddy and the girls had some extra time this morning on the way to school, so they stopped and treated themselves to some gas station breakfast sandwiches.

Cute little girls were nice and warm and bundled up in all the layers today, since it was literally like 21 degrees before 8am today.

I had a very random assortment of things for lunch today. The girls love this kind of lunch though, and I make it for them all the time. We call it a “snack plate,” and this one today, was brought to you buy whatever I had left in the fridge at the end of the week that was low-or-zero-carb. I ate most of this at lunch, but saved the cottage cheese for afternoon snack. And actually never sliced into the giant tomato. Maybe I’ll have that with some scrambled eggs for breakfast tomorrow…

I got stuck at work late tonight working on an emergency situation, so Jeff ran out to pick up the girls from school. Once I finally left work though, I stopped at a Little Free Library before heading home. I pass this one every day after work, but I never stop because I’m always rushing to pick the girls, or the traffic is just too crazy.

I knew I wasn’t going to feel like cooking by the time I got home, so I used my Chick-fil-A rewards points to get some free grilled nuggets, and then baked a frozen cheese pizza for the rest of the fam. I did still have one piece of pizza, but that’s better than the multiple I would usually have. Plus, I hadn’t had hardly any carbs all day, so I was still in pretty good shape.

Anyways, we just kinda hung out for most of the night, reading books and watching the live-action Cinderella, until it was time for bed. First though, we cuddled up in my bed and read Harry Potter for over 30 minutes. It’s been a few weeks since we’ve done our tandem reading time. We also really want to try to finish up this weekend, so she can take her AR test for it on Monday, while we’re home together. (We have an extra quilt on the bed this weekend due to the freezing temps; this one was my great-great Grandmother’s! I also have a fleece blanket tucked under the sheet over on my side too, for even more warmth.)

At bedtime, everyone fell asleep while listening to lullabies together, including Daddy laying on the floor, holding hands with Addie.

OK and now, one last picture of our sparkly Christmas tree, since it should finally start coming down tomorrow. We’ve got some other things we need to do this weekend, specifically finish harvesting the oranges when it’s “warm” in the afternoon, so actually maybe we’ll wait until Sunday, when it’s so cold and rainy we won’t want to leave the house all afternoon? Either way, it’s coming down at some point this weekend…. finally 🙂

And now, I just wanna go flop down on the couch and watch some tv. Then we’ll have the whole weekend to be productive and do chores, but I’m just not doin’ it tonight…
