My website was down last night, so this is the post for Thursday, 4/24, Take Your Kid to Work Day! All three of us girlies were wearing blue dresses for the day, and Emmie had her blue-light glasses and her Trader Joe’s tote, all ready for a day at the office!
Jeff took Addison to school, and Emerson and I treated ourselves to a 10-count of chicken minis to share for breakfast. And we were greeted at my building doors by a cute puppy, a K-9 “officer in training!”
We had a little “welcome briefing” with the Secretary of FDC in the main conference room with all the other kiddos, and then went on a little tour all around the six floors of the building, visiting different Bureaus, collecting stickers stickers in the passport, and candy & prizes in the bags they gave out.
Judge Bud D. Elf was part of an actual scavenger hunt we put together in my Bureau.
Trying on the probation officer uniforms…
There were actually three dogs here, and she was obsessed. She woulda stayed with them all day if she could have!
And trying on some of the riot gear…
Then she got to radio in and talk to an actual officer on the other end of the walkies.
And she filled out a simple resume in Staff Development, and had a quick interview to be a gymnastics coach. And they hired her!
Then she requested sushi for lunch, so daddy picked us up and treated us to yummy food at Siam Sushi, where she ate her entire krab & cream cheese roll.
Oh yeah, and in this photo you can see the ID badge with her photo they made for her!
She got a little bored around mid-afternoon, and was ready to leave by 3pm. Unfortunately, I had to break the news to her that work was rarely fun scavenger hunts with stickers and candy. But she did have fun typing up a quick note for me. And we really had a great day together!
After a crazy day, we just had a frozen pizza for dinner, and watched “Night at the Museum.” Around bedtime, Addison made me a pot of soup in her kitchen, and was spoon-feeding me bites and telling me to slurp it.
Then Emmie and I had our quiet reading time together before her bedtime.
It was after I got the girls down that I realized my website was down, but by that point Jeff (my personal IT professional) was also asleep, so he couldn’t fix it. He looked into it this morning though, and got it back up and running, and I just wrote this post on my Friday lunch break!
